Regarding “The Stand,” writer-director Boone has had McConaughey in mind ever since he won the coveted job, which he inherited from filmmakers such as Ben Affleck, David Yates and Scott Cooper.
While an individual familiar with the project told TheWrap that Boone initially envisioned McConaughey as Stu Redman, who's immune to the plague responsible for wiping out most of the world's population, an insider confirms that McConaughey is now being eyed to play Randall Flagg, who's the primary villain in King's epic tale of good vs. evil. https://www.google.com/search?num=20&newwindow=1&rlz=1C1CHFX_enUS501US501&es_sm=122&q=Matthew+McConaughey+In+Talks+To+Star+In+The+Stand+&oq=Matthew+McConaughey+In+Talks+To+Star+In+The+Stand+&gs_l=serp.12...4533.4533.0.5239.1.1.0.0.0.0.137.137.0j1.1.0....0...1c.1.54.serp..1.0.0.5-9OlQ3xO7s |

Hollyweird looking to release an R rated version of Steven King's 'The Stand' View Quote So they're hoping tits and gore can make a 90 minute remake of a TV miniseries profitable? Good luck with that. I liked the book and thought the mini-series was OK. No way can they boil all that down to two hours or less and have it be worth a shit. |

I don't see how it can be done in one movie. I figure there's at least 3 movies there. Not unless it becomes some ADD explosion filled CGI piece of shit. View Quote View All Quotes View All Quotes Quoted:

Fuck that anti-gun, prehistoric-looking liberal asshole (I'm literally watching Under the Dome as I'm typing this).
Having said that, The Stand was awesome, and I would go see it. McConaughey would make a great Walkin' Dude, I think. |

How can you turn a 1200 page book into a movie without ruining the story?

After seeing McConaughey in Killer Joe, I could see where he might be a great Flag.

I bet they'd get a current rock star to play Larry Underwood.

I see that 'IT' is being made into a movie. Cary Fukunaga is the director. I can't get a handle on him. His other films were Jane Eyre, Sin Nombre, Chinatown Film Project, and a few other shorts that I haven't seen either. He did direct a bunch of 'True Detective' episodes.
The 1990 mini-series version sucked ass. 'IT' was King's best work, and it really deserves to be in the hands of a director who can bring it to life on the screen. |
|
The tale must mever be condensed to the length if a single movie if it is to retain any of its character.
12 Monkies shows Brad Pitt to pull off crazy pretty well. Trash Can Man? |

The fucking Hobbit gets painfully stretched to three agonizing films but we'll be lucky if The Stand gets 120 minutes.

I'll wait until the library gets it. |

If it's not going to be a series of films, this could be a great HBO series. And McConahagh would be a kick ass flagg.

Posted Via AR15.Com Mobile I did get the It eBook last night to try to finish it. I checked it out of the library years ago and made it through a few pages before getting bored. I dunno, I guess I just don't really like his writing style. I did enjoy The Long Walk. |
