I think he implied that democrats are borderline communists and linked them to socialism in a way I've never heard from any U.S. politician.

I'm beginning to think that this is the entire idea of the convention.

McCain fires both barrels. Giuliani goes full broadside. Arnold, sends an alpha strike.

I wonder what they have in store for Cheney (who can deliver one MEAN speach, let me tell you!) and W himself.

Remember, when W fires from the hip and heart, he can be devastating. Remember that post-9/11 speach to the Congress? If he delivers another one like that, and the convention continues to move as it is, then Kerry will have to be picked up with tweezers and a blotter in November.

From Arnold's speech:

The presidential campaign was in full swing. I remember watching the Nixon and Humphrey presidential race on TV. A friend who spoke German and English, translated for me. I heard Humphrey saying things that sounded like socialism, which is what I had just left.

If you believe that government should be accountable to the people, not the people to the government...then you are a Republican! If you believe a person should be treated as an individual, not as a member of an interest group... then you are a Republican! If you believe your family knows how to spend your money better than the government does... then you are a Republican! If you believe our educational system should be held accountable for the progress of our children ... then you are a Republican! If you believe this country, not the United Nations (news - web sites), is the best hope of democracy in the world ... then you are a Republican! And, ladies and gentlemen ...if you believe we must be fierce and relentless and terminate terrorism ... then you are a Republican!

I'd say he came pretty damn close to calling them outright on it!

I'm guessing Cheney will bite his tounge and lead towards the warm and fuzzy, despite his nature to grab socialists by the throat and suck them dry just like the parasitic vampires that socialists are, and G.W. will go for sitting by the campfire in front of the bear rug in the log cabin sipping a fine highland scotch.

But I'd love to see them both go for the throat in their true convictions.
