Thats to 'preserve' it so that if they do not have any luck selling it in a gift basket for holiday season 2006 ..... they can archive that same basket of lunch meat out for X-mas year 2025

Jeeze that stuff is crap. But then you really do take your chances when you buy lunch meats from the deli counter too.
