Hey guys, to help further my credit I would like to get a high limit credit card to leave in the safe and only use in emergency necessities ( available credit to debt ratio ). The last high limit card I had was a Bank of America with a 20k limit. During my college years I ran it up and payed it off in full and a few months after closed it out because they kept creeping up the the interest rate over the life of the card, mind you I opened the card 10 years ago and they started at 5% and over time went to 10 , to 14 to 16 because of the economic downturn. So I payed it off , let it sit at zero balance for 6 months and closed it out and went cash only for a few years. Fast forward to now and I've paid off my student loans in full and ahead of schedule and I've got a chase slate card with a $2k limit that is my credit builder /gun finance since they gave me 15 months 0 apr.
So I'm assuming since I paid off my student loan last year that it probably triggered credit advertisements (kinda like when you declare bankruptcy and all the card offers flood in ) . I received an advertisement for an American Express blue sky card which they touted 15 months zero APR zero annual fees and 15k sky miles as a bonus which they say is $200 towards airline voucher.
Now my questions are, what are everyone's opinions on American Express as the only ones I've ever seen are business cards or a select few people I know have the Centurion card. Is the sky miles worth it or just a scam , as I'd like to fly to Vegas this year and if I can take advantage of a low to no cost ticket that would be even better. Last question is would there be any benefit to a card that charges an annual fee versus the card with no annual fee. For qualifying for the cards my credit average is 815 and my fico is 750.
