Bet you're a real load of fun at New Years parties too...... Not a fan of Fireworks myself but don't begrudge people having fun celebrating. However the Skyrockets at 1 am have got to stop. 2 sleeping children and me waking up yelling incoming is getting old. |
|
I generally don't mind until some asshole decides to light them off at 2:30am

I'm going to play a recording of an air raid siren loud as balls at 3:00 am and then do 3 mag dumps while setting off artillery shells...

Personally, I always save the big stuff for last- that's usually about 1 AM.....sorry |

OP just shoot a 10 pound can of tannerite at 1AM , they'll get the hint.

I remember a time in Germany when people were getting a little crazy in the week leading up to the new year. The noise woke my son and I decided to have some fun of my own. I went out in the courtyard surrounded by apartments and popped a mil smoke grenade followed by a grenade simulator. Everyone went inside and shut the hell up after that. I guess they figured I was the angry American.

Don't you have a HOA meeting to attend or something? Maybe you can find the tree that would cost the most to remove and take it off the approved trees list to make you feel better.

I see the OPs point. I love fireworks on the fourth of July. I don't love them after 10:30 pm every night for two weeks leading up to Independence day. I admit I was not disappointed when the county banned their use this year due to the extreme fire danger.

Well, every neighborhood needs a killjoy
Might want to work on your yelling at the neighborhood kids skillset so you'll be all ready for retirement |

I really don't like loud, booming fireworks, so that's why I've been wearing earplugs at night for the past few days. Mainly because on the 5th, I have to go to work.
|
|
On the fourth I don't care if they shoot off every illegal firework than can be bought at the local reservations. It's all the other day and nights.
Unlike most on this site most of the people are not celebrating independence day just like they don't really know what memorial day is really about. I'm not really old and grouchy unless people make me that way. |

They start at the beginning of the month or the tail end of June and keep it up sometimes thru the end of the first week. |

Neighbours around here think it is from mid June until Labor Day. Meh, I don't care, no one gives me shit for poping off critters in the back yard.

My wife and I were just talking about this last night. She thinks that complaining neighbors need to mind their own business instead of coming outside at 9:45PM and telling us we need to wrap it up because they have a day full of watching TV on the couch tomorrow.
It only happens once a year and we at least have the courtesy to stop by 10:30 PM. If it's earlier than that and your complaining, cry me a river. |
|
I'm with the OP on this. Only because my dog goes nutso and destroys our house when they go off. If it wasn't for that, I wouldn't care. Most of the fun fireworks are illegal but people do them anyway. Also there is a ban on all fireworks except for 12 to 12 on the 4th because we lost a bunch of house in a wildfire last week.

Up here it doesn't get dark until 10pm this time of year. I expect them to go for a few hours into the 5th..........speaking of fireworks; I just had to reboot my computer due to a lighting strike down the street. Strange weather this year....... |

It starts getting dark here around 930ish. So that's usually a good hour to get some shot off. Tomorrow night however, most everyone here in town stays up late to watch the fireworks. |

Get off my lawn, you Damn kids. Yeah gramps..... I would be a grumpy ass but then I remember how much I looked forward to this time of year as a young lad. Yes it scares my dogs but so does their super chicken and the cat. They will get over it, life will go on. |

We should all consider your feelings before we do anything.
Fuck. That. |
|
Down here we have fireworks stores open year round. You can go and set off what ever you want when ever you want. It's great.

Every time I hear a neighbor shoot a gun or set off fireworks I just smile.
I love the sound of freedom. GM |

Sadly there is a burn ban in effect here and no one is shooting anything.
Oh and OP, IM EXPcustom I'm sure he'll have some wonderful advice on getting people to stop having fun and quashing celebratory revelry that you'll find useful.
