I was thinking about going for a life membership with the NRA. But I've heard some of the talk about how they only defend "hunting" rifles and not our evil black rifles. I was just wondering how many people on this board are in the NRA? Is there any better organizations that will defend my rights to my black rifle? Thanks for any info. Have a nice night.

I've been a member for a long time.(Haven't coughed up the dough for life yet)but I don't think they differentiate between certain guns. They do send alot of correspondence to help fight the anti's.Their motto is the 2'nd Amendment.I don't think they care what you own as long as your'e a law abiding citizen. You should join.I will always be a member. If you own ANY gun, they are on your side.

The more of us black rifle owners join the bigger voice we will have. At first I joined because I could not shoot at the club I belong to without belonging. It made me pissed and I still am about it. Then I got to thinking after reading threads here. If I do not belong I have no reason to say anything. So if I want things to change maybe that will be the first start...I became a lifer and my son is a Jr.lifer.

Life Member of the NRA, GOA, and Texas State Rifle Association here.

There are things that the leadership and management of the NRA do that piss me off, but I'm not going to "take my ball and go home" because it's not all going my way. And all you guys who can only criticize the NRA, what are YOU doing to defend the Bill of Rights and the Constitution?

Joined yearly at 18 until I could afford a life membership.

Some of us complain about the NRA, but most of us are members.

P.S. Members get free e-mail, too. Almost no one knows about that benefit, for some reason.....

Wife and I are both members. Seems like every time money was availible for a life membership a new toy was in order. GOA and JPFO are a couple other groups you might want to check out.

Please Join!  Life member or not, the NRA needs every available member.

The NRA is the only group that is big enough to keep us in the mainstream.  Without the NRA, the liberal media would have broken us down into various fringe extremist groups and defeated us long ago.

I mean no disrespect to GOA, or any other gun rights group.  They are like the special forces, while the NRA is like the regular army. Each depends on the other. Support every one of them you possibly can.
The liberals NEVER rest, we can't either.

I have been a life member for 15 years. I would think it is worth it. Nobody else's voicce speaks louder for the gunners, and people listen(anti-gunners). Listen to fmr pres Bill Clinton's reasons for the Democrats losing control of the USA House and Senate from '92 to 2002, Bill blames the "gun lobby"(aka NRA). And of course the Rosie O'donnels, Douglas', Alec Baldwins of the world. These are truly ringing endorsements. These are the people when then speak of the NRA, it is in the same terms $hit & piss.... etc.

Joining is a good thing.  Get a bigger mailbox though, 'cause it's gonna get stuffed with solicitations from NRA-PVF, NRA-ILA, etc., etc.[:)]

When you join, you can have a flag set in the NRA's computer telling them you don't want any solicitations etc. But, I get them, and contribute whatever money I can afford at the time. Sometimes just joining the NRA is not enough to ensure your 2nd Amend rights. By law, NRA membership funds can't be used for lobbying(NRA/ILA) or political contributions(NRA/PVF). I personally I don't find the NRA solicitations that bothersome, it helps me keep track of what the anti-gunners/politicos are doing.

Life Member partly because it will save you money
in the long run .
NRA isn't perfect but we do get  a fair ammount
of political clout and a pretty good magazine .
They really are about the only outfit doing
any training/education /safety .
It isn't the only game in town but well worth
the price of membership (yearly or life )

NRA year by year for 10 years, now a Life Member here.  As mentioned previously in this thread, NRA is not everywhere at once, they pick their battles. But the do a LOT of training, Remember "Eddie Eagle" the gun awarness training for school kids?  This was the only positive gun safetey I ever saw for kids that did not get gun handling / safety at home.  All the BS that the Anti's sling and NOT ONE  CENT on helping the kids up front.

There are other organization out there, do what feels right, but gun owners NEED to be part of something AND this is going to cost us some money to keep the Anti's at bay.

I have been a life member since 1994, annual for years before that.  You may not agree with everything they say or do but they are the most powerful lobby in Washington and they are on your side.

If you are worried about the "black rifle", it is the mainstay of high power shooting and will be safe forever if they have their say in things.
