I was sworn in as an E-4 by some random officer at San Jose MEPS. My comissioning oath was handled by a passing Major I tracked down in San Luis Obispo. LT bars were pinned by a good buddy of mine. He's a 2nd/LT now (I couldn't attend his comissioning due to a deployment), will be best man at my wedding in July. Even though he is infantry...

I don't remember most of them including the first.

For my last one, I asked my Commander in the AF Reserve to do it. It meant a lot to him because he was about to retire and he had never gotten the chance do do a reenlistment ceremony.

The first time was whoever got the short straw at MEPS; I forget even what Branch, but I think he was probably Army. When I reenlisted, I asked my BC to do it.

The first time? 2nd Lt. Connie White  (USAF) at San Antonio MEPS.  It was her first time too.

She didn't know what "PFC" stood for.

My second time around I re-enlisted on the Ft Polk rifle range during a match practice.  My team leader swore me in and then beat my ass by 3 X's.

An Army Major , Which was kind of funny because I was joining the Coast Guard Reserve.

( He was a mutual friend studying at U of Michigan, West Point Grad, Paratrooper vet of Panama incursion and yes, it was an honor .)

I had one of my best friends (Army Captain) swear me in when I graduated from USNA.

I need to find him. Haven't spoken to him since just after 9/11. Distance is a bitch.

I know.. but there was no barber at that facility, and OCS is kindof stingy about allowing days off to go into town.

I was first sworn into the Army by a Marine Captain at Dallas MEPS, when I interservice transferred to the Navy (4 years later) I was sworn in to the Navy while wearing Army Greens, by an Air Force Major at MEPS in Dallas.

I received my discharge papers from the Army 3 weeks after I was Active Duty Navy.

I am now an Army Guardsman, sworn in by an actual Army officer for once.

Some Navy Butter Bar that made me glad I went Army.  Don't ask me what her name was; I wouldn't have dated her even if we were both the same ranks.  She knew about diving orders, and that was about it.
