The problem is that while we have maintained sea superiority, we have cut and cut.  We wont be No1 for long.

Floating parking lot for aeroplanes.

During WW II, Gerald Ford was a carrier officer.  There was a fire (thanks Japan) onboard his ship and two teams had failed to bring it under control. Ford volunteered to lead the third team down and they extinguished the fire and saved the ship. Typical of Ford he didn't brag about it.  Nixon was also a naval officer during the war.  I learned about it in Joe Foss (Medal of Honor, Marine Ace, former governor of SD, former president of the NRA) mentions it in his book.  Including Kennedy, we had a lot of squids in the White House.

The Chinese have one refurbished conventionally powered Russian built ski jump carrier without an air wing.

We'll remain number one for a while.

I believe it has an electrical plant of sufficient capacity to accomodate a rail gun when one becomes operational.

A can a whoop ass under assembly. Looks like there is still much work to be done though. All crap on the deck are offices and storage areas for workers building the thing.

Over 100 years ago, the hurricane bow was invented for a reason.   For some reason, naval architects seem to have forgotten that.

Electro magnetic catapults and a nuclear plant 2 1/2 times the capacity of that of a Nimitz.

Plenty of power for weapons systems that will come online in the future.
