Yes they are TODAY, but in the past the NRA didn't give much credence to 2nd Amendment as written, NFA stuff, and black rifles in general.
The assault weapons ban of Slick Willie in 1994 was passed with the sunset clause. The then NRA leadership was OK with it because of the sunset language.
I've been a life member since 1972 and a member since 1964, and was in attendance at the Cincinnati revolt lead by Harlon Carter and Neal Knox in 1977.
I have watch this organization change direction on gun related issues more than once. Of late, to the better.
More so with the beginning of the Obama administration.
Also; vote NO for the bylaws change.
