In this part of Tennessee you can't swing a dead cat without hitting at least three pickers better than him. he's good enough to play the streets of Brazil though. Rock on hombre.

Pick and strum, Man!

Not Knopfler, but pretty good to my untrained ears.

Pretty cool, but makes you realize what true freaks of nature the world's best guitarists are.

I'll give him some benefit of the doubt and say the video recording was a limiting factor.

This is why the "Who's the best guitarist" threads are ridiculous.  The folks we argue about are the ones luck enough to be in the right place at the right time to get the recognition of a record deal.  For every one of those guys there are 100 with equal or better skill that haven't been "discovered".

Good use of a backing track. Good solid fills.

That's a hella lot of practice & raw talent brought to fruition.

I've been playing for over 20 years.  Usually at least an hour a day...sometimes more, sometimes less.

I see guys with this sort of talent and I don't know if I should use it for inspiration or just toss my gear in the yard and set it on fire!  :)

the canonical Knopfler video...  putting an absolute hurting on the drummer.
seriously, check out after the 5 minute mark -- that guy is going to need a medic.
i think Knopfler is amusing himself by pressing the drummer to go faster and faster...
