I'm sorry for you folks in FL, come up to lovely CT, not as warm as down south, but we're relatively natural disaster free

Thousands of tornado's through the mid-USA a few years ago, multiple hurricanes in one year, earthquakes in divers places......

As of 8:00 pm tonight this was upgraded to a cat 4 Hurricane

It took less than 24 hours to go from a TS to a Cat. 4

There's got to be no freakin statistical way that damn thing can hit us. I just got my power back on and I'm not going back to the stone age again!!! Francis has been a nightmare! I don't want to leave town, in case of a looter either... Ugh
Link Posted: 9/5/2004 5:44:46 PM EST
Was there one county in Florida that didn't get rained on today? That was one big ass storm.

I hardly got any rain here and I am just about 15 miles south of the eye as of 10:00pm tonight!

Once it moves more north, thats when I will get hammered.
Link Posted: 9/5/2004 5:49:15 PM EST
I think that there was one year that North Carolina got hit by three hurricanes. Yea, Ivan looks like a party pooper. Maybe he will just curve out to sea and not bother anyone.

Take it for what it's worth, but TWC said that it's expected to hit Cat 5 within 18-24 hours.....this could get ugly....

It hasn't rained at all from Tallahassee to points west - of course, it's heading our way now. Frances has it out for this whole state!

After looking at brasspiles map, I wonder what happens to Iraqi POW's with something like this... ETA: Have we lost contact with any Florida guys with Frances?

Y'all may think me a horrible person for saying this, but at this point its just getting funny. And I say that because Murphy has taken special pleasure in writing the script to my life. He has seemed to be taking a vacation for about 3 weeks now...

MoparMike hopes he hasnt spoke too soon...

God hates Liberals?

If that's true, then WTF doesn't the northeast get hammered?
Link Posted: 9/7/2004 5:07:39 AM EST
I am so damn mad about this!! Charley almost hit me dead on, then Frances skipped through, now Ivan is gonna blow my house away probably. I hate Florida, I'm moving to Montana.

Same here. Not sure which I like more tho...snow storms or rain storms...I mean, I love storms and all, but I would kinda miss the snow, too...

Maybe Maine? They get some freaky storms up there, AND snow..

My power will be out until Thursday PM. Running the gen for the fridge and freezer. Small new pond in my yard. Ivan has nixed my Keys trip. Move?

Looks to me like it's heading right for the panhandle - Tallahassee got hit pretty bad by Frances - but those of us further west have been lucky so far. The luck may be running out!

Ivans a cat IV again!

I'm ramped up...but, I am getting tired of this season. I am exhausted.

Ivan will be in the Gulf...Ivan will hit Florida, somewhere from Tampa to us in the Panhandle.

Bump for those of us in Florida. Track no puts it too close for comfort.

'Fraid not! Check out the system in the northwest. That will 'steer' Ivan northward and then to the northeast. I'm refueling my gas tanks, loading up on batteries and doing a quick carb and tune-up job on the gen set.

It's so soggy here that any type of a bad blow is going to topple much of what's left.

BTW, we got our power back yesterday 'bout noon. Ahhhh, that hot shower felt fantastic!
Link Posted: 9/8/2004 3:55:11 AM EST
When it rains it pours. I hate it for you FL guys. Its been a bad year so far.

Maybe it will come up to us in Bama and leave you poor guys alone!
Link Posted: 9/8/2004 8:19:33 AM EST
We just got "kissed" by Bonnie and Frances here in Panama City, The weather folks did a pretty good job of predicting the last two which really scares the piss out of me with Ivan. That sumbitch is headed right for us "panhandlers".

I think the forecasters putting that map together would take that into account.

It looks like it is going to follow a very similar path of Charley
