I'm adding a couple new springs to lighten the trigger on my G34. I first noticed this part magically sitting on the counter after I took the back off the slide and replaced the striker spring. Did it spontaneously generate? I do not recognize it at all.

That looks like the Glock Spring Loaded Bearing .  It rests on the slide plate.

LOL, I am thoroughly embarrassed. I should let the thread go on, just to hear what else you guys suggest that this is, but I figured it out once I got everything back together.

Somehow, the end cap for my Eezox gun oil rolled over into the pile of Glock parts.    I have taken Glocks down a number of times and thought, "goddammit, I have NEVER seen a piece like this before........"

That is why.

Abort the bomb squad. ABORT!!
