I got a 30.06 as a backup rifle.  My friend lost my rifle and now I got cash to get a new elk hunting rifle.  What do you guy think I should get?  I like the 300 WSM but it don't come in big green.  I might just get a CDL .300 Win Mag.

I've got a .300WSM and although I've never experienced any issues, I've heard some people complain about the steep neck on the shell causing some feed problems.  Again, I've never noticed any binding on my Model 70.

My current is a model 70 300 wsm, though I've shot alot of elk with 270s and 243s. You'll be fine with anything you shoot well.

Remington makes the 700 SPS and 700 XTR in 300 WSM.

I'd take a look at the 338 RUM.  I like an elk rifle with trajectory superior to the 30-06 or 338 Win Mag, and sometimes it seems like 30 caliber is a bit small for elk.

I shoot 270 WSM myself, and it did a great job on a bull and a cow this year.
