I need another safe for my excess guns. I already have an expensive, supposedly high quality Browning FN safe. I'm looking for a second safe for the second tier guns.
I'm considering a Winchester safe from Sam's
and a Cannon/American Eagle model from Academy.
They're both listed as 60x30x22, both supposedly fire resistant for about 30 minutes, both have a 12 gauge body and 3/16 inch door. I know the Cannon/American Eagle doesn't have bolts on the top or bottom of the door, and I'm pretty sure the Winchester is the same.
The pimary differences that I can see is that the Winchester has an electronic lock while the Cannon/American Eagle has a traditional combination lock, and the Winchester has the hinges on the outside while they're internal on the Cannon/American Eagle. I don't have a strong preference on the lock type one way ot the other. They're both about the same price. Anyone know any reason to prefer one over the other?
Oh yeah, and Academy also has a slightly larger (six inches wider) Cannon/American Eagle safe for $160 more.
Which one?
