for cheap!

Sitting out in the open is COLD and I figure getting an old junker car for cheap can make a good deer blind! Once the car is on the property, it will be made inoperable.

I would like to have it set up by next year. Obviously, it is too late for this year.

A car won't rot like a wood blind, can be transported on a trailer, protects from wind, rain, and snow, and is the right amount of redneck.

Scrap value on a van or box truck is gonna be $500, maybe even more, so nobody's gonna sell one for less that that, no matter what's wrong with it. You could probably have one of those big 360 degree plastic tripod yurts and hunt from 15' off the ground for $500.

Try an old Uhaul.

Coupled with a solar battery charger and a tiny bit of maintence and you could have a cool, portable deer stand capable of hauling the animals you harvest.

Check prices on an old school bus. Shit man, that'd be like the ponderosa of deer blinds.

What is this tripod yurt you speak of? Won't it fall over in high winds?

There's an Astro, a DJ5 postal jeep and a '70 VW van on OKC craigslist within your price range. Where in OK are you?

If you are going to disable the vehicle why don't you just get a small shipping container? Or maybe contact places like PODS www.pods.com and see if they have any old or damaged units you can get on the cheap.

The smallest container would fit on a trailer and you could probably move it with a tractor if needed. http://www.pods.com/portable-on-site-storage/portable-container-size.aspx

A surplus short school bus would be a great option. Plenty of room without being ridiculously large.

But I'd suggest modifying it including adding some good locks to it to keep people from trashing it.

You can presume the windows won't last long in any event. No footloose gaggle of high school kids
would dare pass up the opportunity to bust up the windows of a much hated school bus found out
in the middle of nowhere.

However, in a suitably secure environment, such a bus could be turned into a VERY comfortable blind.

My brother and his shootin buddies are gonna tow an old suburban from the coast 200+miles to Burns to shoot rats off of. It was quite the wheelin rig, but they stole all the good parts for a newer rig. They figure as long as they can tow it around the farm it will serve it's purpose!
