Ive had the 10mm bug for a long time and ive finally resigned myself to the fact that i will never find a Bren for sale and CZ will never make the 97 in 10mm. right now im hung up between the Glock 20 in OD polymer, or the EAA Witness polymer with wonderfinish slide. i qualify for the Glock LE/Mil discount and even with that it is almost twice the price of the Witness as being sold by CDNN

so if you have a G20 or a 10mm Witness please sound off with some pro/cons. i intend to purchase within the next week.

Dittoes on the G20. It's my bedside pistol, loaded with DoubleTap 165 gr Golden Sabers @ 1425fps.

I bought an aftermarket barrel (Federal) for 100 dollars, so I could shoot lead reloads for practice.

I kicked around the whole G20 thing, and nearly bought a Witness, but I think I'll bide my time for a Dan Wesson 1911 instead.

If you reload, it is my understanding that Glock barrels are hell on cases.

G20 hands down.

I wouldn't go ported either...the flash on a ported gun sucks...

The G20 shoots very smooth, and the reliability of the Glock is beyond obvious. I almost bought an LAR one time, but in reality, many times those rarer guns become a pain when parts break and are difficult to find. G20 parts are everywhere.

If you are buying it for a trail gun, or will use it as such, check out Corbon Penetrators. They are about the best bet for trying to push that gun into black bear security (just barely...the capacity is the plus, but you are def better off with a 44 mag.)

Hi Dvl,

I'm a fan of 10mm, too. The EAA is a huge, heavy gun. The G20 is used by Alaska's park rangers as the standard sidearm. I'm 5'8, and can just barely conceal a G20 in an OWB belt slide. It's a big gun, and the grip is suited to people with at least size L hands.

But, the wide backstrap really softens the recoil. I put a Wolff 24lb spring and steel guide rod in my G20. I also got a KKM barrel, as the chamber is much tighter than OEM and better suited to hot load development.

well im a pretty big guy but i dont have huge hands and the first thing that struck me was how big the G20 grip is. i havent handled a polymer witness 10mm but i have shot the .45 and it seems to be very slim for a double stack .45.

any of you guys with G20's ever break parts? i read seom stuff last night about unsupported chambers etc etc.

Well, from a related thread....I would suggest looking at a S&W 1006....stainless, 5" barrel, I love mine (I've had two, the first one I stupidly sold, and I finally got around to getting another).

Shoots great, never had a problem, like the stainless, like the heft....

I too am a fan of the S&W's having owned a 1006 and currently own a 1076, but of the two you listed, the Glock is the better pistol. The Glock is overall a better pistol IMO than the EAA, and I own an EAA in .45ACP. The 10mm EAA is set-up for light loads, and you'll need to change some springs and such to go to the real stuff. The EAA tends to loosen rear sights and extractors seem to have a hard time. EAA customer service is about the worst in the gun industry. Their "wonderfinish" isn't exactly a wonder, since I've seen several high use "wonderfinish" ones with fingerprints permanently etched into the gun from perspiration.

On the other hand you have a Glock. While it too isn't the elusive "perfect gun", there's not much you're going to have to mess with on one. I don't even like Glocks, but I'll be the first to admit it's a fine gun that's always a good choice for someone that does like them. You also get the discount.

You can set up the EAA to work great, but you have to actually do it. The Glock will run out of the box and is a better value IMO.

Of the two, I'd get the Glock.

I own a Witness (non polymer) in Wonder finish; paid about $325 for it NIB. I've never handled one of the polymer guns (in 10mm), but the steel ones are very nice (especially when you consider the price). Another feature of the Witness is you can buy conversion kits (slide, barrel, recoil sping & guide + magazine) in different calibers (.22lr, .45, .357 Sig, etc.) for about $200 each.

So far, I've put about 500 rounds through my Witness, no issues at all. For me, it's too big for a CCW, but great for range use, or plinking around the farm.

A Glock 20 is set it and forget it. Witness has a low price.
Get the Glock. Could go Dan Wesson for about $1K new.
As stated above try a SW 1006 if I don' buy it first

The Delta Elite, DW Razorback, and the Kimber 10mm make mighty fine weapons.

HOWEVER, I believe the G20 has got to be the best package for the 10mm. Unless you have small hands. If you wear medium gloves or smaller, look elsewhere.

I am a huge 1911 fan, but the Glock is just a perfect fit for capacity, and heft to tame to recoil of full power 10mm loads.

Love mine.

I've been looking at a 10mm as well and the last time I was in my local gun shop I picked up a Kimber in 10mm. I compared it to the Glock and just liked the 1911 better.

G29. It can do everything from concealed carry to black bear hunting. You can get replacement barrels that will make it 6 inches long or handle .40, or .357 Sig. Put a mag extension on with a longer barrel and you have a G20 (except for the sight radius).

Try some RBCD ammo if you are into vaporizing ten pound chunks of meat.

I've had mine for over 12 years, and quite enjoy it. It's a tack-driver...though extra magazined are hard to find....

I have a Glock 20 even though I've been a SIG fan all my life. I bought the Glock last summer and it's the first and only Glock I've ever owned. I also have a SIG P228, P220, and a Kimber Ultra II. I have to tell you straight up that the Glock 20 is by far my favorite sidearm. I shoot bettter with it than I ever have with any gun I've ever owned before including the SIGS. The 10mm round although somewhat uncommon is a bad ass round that will easily handle all 4 legged preditors which means that it's really good for 2 legged preditors as well. The Glock 20 is accurate, reliable, well balanced, and ergonomic.
I bought mine used for $479. It might have had a couple boxes of rounds through it so it was 99% new.
I use 180 Golden Sabre double tap ammo for my home defense load and HSM ammo for target shooting. It's a damn good gun and I highly recomend it.

I had a Glock 10mm and got rid of it. I couldn't hit shit with it. I've come to the conclusion that it was a "point-blank" weapon. I could plug targets at 100 yards with my .357.

I too am a 10mm fan, I've got a 10mm Colt SS Delta Gold Cup and a LAR Grizzly 45Win Mag with a 10mm conversion kit. The 10mm round treads very close to that of the lower power 41Rem Mag.

I would suggest that you buy the Glock 10mms, I spoke with the Glock rep, and he says that their 10mm are engineered from the ground up to handle the full power of the factory 10mm round. Initlally I was not a big fan of the Glocks, but I am converted. My now closed indoor range had rental Glock 17 that shot 500,000 rounds when it cracked the slide(was replaced), and was up to 750,000 official rounds when the range closed. The gun wasn't babied either, it was cleaned only when the customer complained of jamming, which was few and far between, and the cleaning was extremely cursory ie a couple swipes with the bore brush and a patch or two and it was done.

The only problem is finding ammo at a reasonable price, ie you must handload if you're an ordinary everyday soul. I only load my 10mm to 45ACP levels from my Delta Gold Cup because it on the realm of semi-collectible.

I have a compact steel Witness w/ Wonderfinish. It has no problems and seems well made. I was amazed at how well it handles the 10mm recoil. It feels more like a 38 special, recoil wise.

i have 3 1911's and i want something new. plus i havent seen a 10mm 1911 under $1000 and i can get the witness for $285 and the G20 for $429

Are you sure about that? I see Colt Delta Eletes here on the EE and they never go for more that like 600 !
