I need to buy a manual can opener from Amazon, the kitchen aide one we have now is having a difficult time opening cans.
I have bought some can openers in the past, that were complete junk.
what is a good one to get?

I'm not sure it's on Amazon but Walmart sells one that is made in the USA and is awesome, I've had mine for years and it works great.
It cost around $10 and I've picked up a few extras and given them to friends and they tossed out their more expensive ones and it's all they use.

It's on a cardboard sheet and is stainless and the sheet is blue.
It has a nice heft and comfortable handles

OXO, wasn't bad. The grip was nice though.

OXO Good Grips Can Opener

Work great and inexpensive.

Bed Bath and Beyond has them if you want to buy locally.

The P51 is far more superior in the kitchen.

The Swingaway 407 is what you want, (unless they have cheapened the crap out of it). This design has been around for 40 years. We have two, one of which we use daily. The other is a spare that came from a relatives estate, that has seen lots of use, but is still good to go. This is a classic that is good at the basic job of opening cans, even though it may not be the fanciest, or most ergonomically perfect opener. Accept no substitutes.

This is what you want. Swing away is no longer made in the USA and the quality sucks now.

Yup.

Those are great.

Also, get TWO. And one regular one. AND a P38.

Can openers are one of those buy one, stack the rest deep kind of necessities.

This one... https://www.amazon.com/EZ-DUZ-3028-Deluxe-Opener-Grips/dp/B0071OUJDQ/ref=lp_289755_1_21?s=kitchen&ie=UTF8&qid=1481597725&sr=1-21&tag=vglnk-c102-20

Simple. Tough as nails. Easy operation. Faster than my electric and less messy. Don't waste your time on those fancy "safety" openers. They blow.

I have went thru a pile of can openers. they all fucking suck, its impossible to buy any kind of can opener at walmart that is not total shit for under $10 bucks. I have had 33-4 of those $3.99- $6.99 openers.. they are all made from , soft non heat treated metal, the gears strips out quickly and become useless within months..

I paid $9,99 for a made in usa can opener at Walmart and it seems to be heavy duty.... I have high hopes for it.. if it fails I will be looking for a peterbuilt / caterpillar/ or snap on can opener next... how fucking hard is it to make a god damned can opener????

P38 I've had the same one for 30 years. Longer than either wife.

This one. It kicks wholesale ass.

Best can opener on gods green earth.

Got tired of fancy electric can openers that won't open a can.

Bought the OXO good grips can opener a few years ago. Works every time.

I thought about one of the commercial style openers but we don't really have a place to mount it.

Exactly this. Swing Away openers are still pretty decent but they're imported now. The same company that used to make them makes the ones above. They're the old faithful.

This is the best one I've found also.

This one. Cheap. Seriously awesome.

It's not much bigger than a P38 but is 10x faster.

Had this exact model for 11 or so years. Big round handles don't pinch your hands when piercing the can and the big know is easy enough to turn my 7 yr old can open a can.

I would look for one of the made in USA Swing-A-Way clones.

We had an Ecko that worked great for almost 20 years and then gave up. Went through some others and found the Made in USA opener. Buy one for someone you love.
