I know I'm not the only one in the world who gets really ridiculously dry hands from working in rubber gloves all day. Cracked, ashy, bloody knuckles and skin wrinkly beyond its years. What do you all use to help?

They provide lotion at work which helps a bit, but I feel like to get any sort of real relief I have to be using it a lot more than I do, which means I probably have to get some to keep around the house. Unfortunately, most of the ones I've tried either leave me feeling like my hands are coated in 40-weight, or cause me to break out in itchy hives. Even Cetaphil, which is supposed to be hypoallergenic, makes my skin turn red and raw as a fresh steak.

The only stuff I've tried that doesn't is what they use at work, Vionex, so I'm thinking about jacking a bottle or two next time the janitor leaves the closet open but I hear good things about Corn Huskers Lotion as well.

I have the opposite problem, my hands get soggy from wearing gloves (chemical-resistant thick nitrile) all day.  In the summertime I have to change gloves every half hour or so because they fill up with sweat.

What kind do you wear?  Latex?  Nitrile?  You might want to try a different type.

You are allergic to latex.

We use nitrile gloves so they dont really bother me, my problem is the DI water. I end up slathering lotion on my hands when I go to bed and just let it soak in over night.

Burt's Bees hand cream.  Great stuff.

Try Theraseal.  Just google it to find a place to order.  It's a barrier cream you put on before your gloves.  A word of caution though:  apply the theraseal several minutes before your gloves or it will be hard to pull them on.

Nope, we don't have any latex gloves. I use nitrile or, very occasionally, chloroprene.

They make cotton glove liners. Good to have between your hand and the melting rubber glove in the event of a propellant fire.

I also recommend Theraseal, it's what we used in our lab.  We also had nitrile gloves with no powder in them, too, that helped a lot of people.

THIS times a million.  Burts Bees is the shit.

ETA: Nitrile seems to be used everywhere nowadays...

Bath and Body Works Shea Cashmere.  Hydrates really well and doesn't leave your hands oily.  At first it feels like they will feel oily but it goes away quickly.  Yeah you'll smell a bit girly, but your hands won't crack and bleed.

I wear the fancy blue gloves over the standard ones at my hospital.  Those shit gloves messed up my hands...

Are you wearing the latex gloves or nitrile? I have the same thing happen to my hands, and I've had good luck using Vaseline hand lotion for men. It works better than the bulk crap they have here at work that spells like a flowers.  The Vaseline lotion isn't the greatest smelling either, but I can deal with it since it works.
