So there I was, selling an AR to an older gentleman who doesn't have much, if any, experience with AR rifles.
As I am finishing up the paperwork, he asks about optics. He wants to the what the best optic we have for the AR. I thought for a minute and said "probably the EoTech, but it's a bit expensive". Yep, $390 for an XPS-2 was more than he wanted to spend. So after a few minutes looking around he decided on the 4-16x BSA with the mildot and explained to me that of you sight the cross hairs in at 100 yards, that the second dot will be dead on at 200, the third dot at 300 and so forth.... The he asked something I was not expecting..... "Do you guys have that new Beowulf scope mount? I heard that it's supposed to replace the tactical rails" I laughed my ass off thinking he was an ARFCOMer He's not an ARFCOMer and was serious... |

Reading that guy's explanations on his failbook page makes my brain hurt. Apparently the ability to hang a laser off your bipod is a good reason to throw out the standard everyone has been using for years.

I for one, am going to purchase one of those BeouwulfX mounts because it will enable me to shoot from the bench while still standing up and without bending down.
What a cleverly thought out new product. |

Something some fucking halfwit poser cocksucker came up with that is aboutas useful as tits of a toad. Looks about as good as that also, it is the ultra fial mall ninja over priced junk. Looks like something targetraget came up with while sniveling about troy not mating with tapco. |

Henceforth those who mention the mighty Beowulf shall be banished to the Northern Hell never to return to the paradise known as Arfcom!

It's like my solution, without the versatility. I incorporated the multiple mounting standards, high line over bore, and chicom scope of the BeowulfX. Then I improved by keeping a robust set of fixed iron NM sights with the durability of a carry handle. My solution also has an illuminated 3-9x mildot scope with broken turrets and illum switch for precision. Not wanting to neglect CQB, the 4MOA red dot is great for close-in engagement. By maintaining all optics in a vertical profile, I achieve a comfortable chest weld and preserve the slender profile that makes the classic AR so popular. http://i159.photobucket.com/albums/t151/sleepdr/8C8A0165-744F-4E6B-8660-0DB7B6CC4B8F-15918-0000068B8E63607C_zps3ce4109b.jpg Posted Via AR15.Com Mobile View Quote That's so operator |

The good part is the x-lax mount uses common home depot hardware available in all third world areas. Posted Via AR15.Com Mobile |

If not BS, I hope OP didn't sell the man the rifle... There's rules against folks who belong in state run homes from having firearms....

In all seriousness I don't think I posted in that one. If I did, I don't remember when it went south. All my AR optics sit in LaRue mounts. That's not likely to change anytime soon. edit: I googled the beowolfx(?) mount. Yeah, I think I'll stick with the LaRue. |
