I shoot at least once a week on the weekend, sometimes twice. I try and rotate my guns through, but I have a bunch that I don't shoot very often. Lately I've been thinging about selling some of them. I could use the money to buy more stuff that I'd shoot more often. Anyone else ever go through on of these phases?

Often....I liquidated about 66% of my collection and kept only what I shot often. Haven't missed a single one I've sold.

No reason not to. i recently sold a USP compact ,40 because it just sat in the safe. Ended up replaceing it with a Para Ordnance Warthog, which by the way is a super nice gun. Kinda sucked i had to replace the mag springs right off but its reliable now and runs like a top. Oh its also the most comfortable CCW piece i have ever carried.

Yeah, we do too, it ain't that bad!
Just looking for the "AR" of 22's...

Been trying to keep what I have, last gun I sold didn't end well

I don’t have any.

What I have I shoot.

It may be months in between times I would use one, but sooner or later they get shooting.

Huh? I don't understand. What is this "sell" you speak of?

yup, I've been selling them off to fund my Jeep build.  Thus far I've sold an HK tactical, a USP, AR10, 2 AR 15s and a glock 36.
ETA:  also sold off my IMI Uzi.

I've currently got 2 CavArms SEBR lowers and a RRA fluted bbl 16" flat top for sale in the EE.  I don't miss them.  I've been shooting less and less often.

I sell it if I don't use it. I'm not really much of a collector.

Absolutely. I don't collect 'em, I shot 'em. If you don't shoot 'em, you have to dust' em.

I'm basically down to three firearms I shoot, plus one more intended purchase.

Glock 19
Kimber 1911 + .22lr slide conversion
AR-15
Planned AR-15A4 build.

That's about it.

I pretty much shoot everything I own. Not every time I go to the range of course, but I dont think I own anything that doesnt get shot at least a few times a year...and I keep ammo for all of my prized possessions!

Yes.

I need to decide which ones are next to go so I can afford an Ed Brown.

Nope.  I have rifles I bought five years ago I have never shot.
Several of them, as a matter of fact.

I have some I would sell if someone asked, but none that I would seek a buyer for.  They don't eat much, and I may want them some day.

Before I sell a gun, it has to be:

1. Not a family heirloom
2. Something I regret purchasing due to crappiness

Examples:  I don't shoot my S&W M25 much, but it's too much of a gem to part with.  I recently traded a FEG hi-power and a CZ50 towards a Glock 19.  I have a Chinese Ithaca clone looking for a buyer, and... don't mock me... a Jennings .22 waiting for a gun buy-back.

I have had a slight thought scratch my brain to sell off some to get a full auto.  Then I wake up, dry off the sweat, and go back to bed.

Once in a while.

But then sanity raises it's ugly head and I shake off the thought.

Never... I don't sell the cars I don't drive either.  Who knows what they'll be worth in the future.  Guns rarely depreciate.

I have no guns.  I used to, but lost them all in a tragic ocean kayak accident.

Im planning on selling two rifles and one handgun at the next gunshow, since I dont use them and they are not family heirlooms.

YOU SON OF A BITCH!

I'd never sell a gun to a buy back program.

None of my guns are heirlooms either. I bought them all myself.

I've done it before and I'll do it again... At first I hated the idea of "dwindling my numbers" but the more I thought about it and th tighter space got to keep them I started to think in a little more of a practical way. I get what I "need" or at least think I'll use.

So far I traded off an SAR-8 for an AR. Then I sold a Remington 700PSS. Now I'm trying to sell the AR I got in trade. I think I'll probably consider trading or selling my Ruger P89 as well. Hardly ever shoot it. I'll use that to get a Walther P22.

... Yes, I'm "standardizing" my collection right now (See EE). No more safe queens, no antiques, collectibles or CCR. No whiz-bang calibers, gone are the useless huge, puny or wildcat calibers

... Going lean - a couple each basic battlerifles, pistols, revolvers, sub-gun, M4forgeries, shotties

... My goal is to have only these calibers: 22LR, 5.56mm, 7.62 NATO, 7.62x39, 45ACP, 9mm, 44mag (for rifle & revolver), .338 Luapa, 50BMG, 454Casull/45LC and 12 gauge

... Life is simpler that way

Yea, I'm dreading the day that I may be forced to sell some of my collection to get a new business up and running.  $40k would be a nice shot in the arm to help make payroll for a few weeks though.  Tough decision between selling or a home equity loan.

lesson learned from Katrina, don't leave babies behind to fall into the wrong hand so that you have to face them if/when you return

I've got mine down to what I can carry with me.

I did and my gun safe much happier, I got rid fo wierd calibers, stuff I don't use and cheap ass weapons. I still have more than I will ever need or could use.

Would rather have a decked out AR-15 than an AR-15 plain jane plus a bunch of single shot , bolt action , cheap crappy weapons.
