Indoor fireworks may have caused fatal Coralville fire
ASSOCIATED PRESS
March 13, 2006

Coralville, Ia. — A man died in a mobile home fire Sunday night that apparently was related to fireworks being shot off inside, authorities said.

A body was found near the rear of the mobile home, Coralville Fire Chief David Stannard said. The identification of the victim was pending, he said.

The fire broke out about 7:15 p.m. and burned quickly, a neighbor said.

Shannon Kacena said a man inside the mobile home had been shooting off fireworks. He opened the door of the home periodically and threw fireworks outside, Kacena said.

One exploded under a car in front of the home, she said. She said she kept hearing fireworks and looked outside again and saw flames coming out of a window.

She called 911, but said the mobile home was engulfed within minutes.

Not on purpose, but yes.

Bottle rockets are also a hoot inside a moving car!

My friend went to missouri and bought a SHT load of fireworks , and he was being a idiot , and was Fuking around with a Zippo holding a m-80 above the flame , and the fuse lit - so the dumbass dropped it into the full box of fireworks - and he lit his basement on fire -- his old mand pool table , bar , and trophy deer heads all went up in smoke !!! --  it was some funny SHT , as his old mad was so pissed he almost poped a vein in his forehead !!

I've set off a half a dozen blackcats inside an ammo can. It fucked up the ammo can and dented the sides.

And they're fun to shoot out of hotel room windows or down the hallways.  (Or so I've heard.)

But not in your own home.

I just remembered!

Back when I was stationed in Okinawa we had maybe 8 barracks full of people having a fireworks war.  We had on all our body armor and helmets and such but several of us ended up with some decent burns anyway.

I consider it an early form of MOUT training using bottle rockets and roman candles.

I've fired off a 6.5x55mm Mauser inside a home.  Does that count?

We used to wake each other up during college with black cats. Problem was it didn't just wake up the person with the 7am class

Yes, it was intentional.   Talk about over-penetration

Yep. Me and my friends used to get drunk and pop blackcats, m60s and other related non gigantic explosion or flaming fireball fireworks inside the house. That was quite a while ago when I was in high school. No my parents never knew about it.

Stupid, suprised we never hurt ourselves or burned the house down.

Throwing Black Cats into the fire place counts, right?

Yes.  I got bored one night so I set off some of those spinning ones (the ones that spin around on the ground rapidly while changing color in my room.  I lit them and threw them in a plastic tub.  I may have lit some other ones, I don't remember.  I don't think alcohol had anything to do with that situation.

Never any fireworks, but I did fire a USGI .308 blank in my HK91 inside the house once...and ruined destroyed the towel I had wrapped around the muzzle...and put a hole in the carpet where I had the muzzle resting.

The only thing that was funny was watching our Bassett Hound jump up and run at near-Greyhound speed into a wall on the other side of the room...he was snoozing on the floor nearby and I guess he didn't open his eyes as he sprang into action...

That was nearly ten years ago and I STILL catch Hell from mrsstinger about that one...

Maybe the title of this thread should have been, "Have you ever died after setting off fireworks INSIDE your home?"

Me and my brother used to have bottle rocket wars in the house all the time.  We had a few sticks embedded into the walls.  Nothing like having a hangover, sitting on the toilet taking a dump.  Then hearing snickers from outside the bathroom door as a pack of fire crackers gets pushed under it!  Talk about no where to run.

Yup.  Me and my roommate set off a pack about 4 am after a long night of drinking, etc.  I am sure the fellow apartment dwellers did not enjoy it , but no police showed up.  It was loud.

Sure, I slipped a couple of black cats under the bathroom door when I lived in the dorms.  My suitemate nearly had a heart attack while taking a piss.
