I had the weirdest thing happen earlier.  I was standing up, leaned my head back to put in eye drops, and when my arms were up over my head holding the eye drops my sternum made a loud "pop" sound.  It is now a day later, there is no bruising, but it kinda hurts to breathe.  Anyone ever had something like that happen before?  It is very, very sensitive feeling still- like I don't even want my wife giving me a hug sensitive.

Am I going to croak?

You'll be fine.  Mine does it every couple months.

Every joint in my body pops occasionally.

Sternum has happened, not often. I had a chiropractor pop it on purpose once.

It's pretty rare for pops to cause lingering pain for me, but it happens.

I had a snowboarding accident a few years and had a sternum separation.

yeah, it hurt.

You're fine. But dibs on guns, ammo and optics.

Couple times a week for me usually, but the past week or two I haven't been able to get it...really annoying.

I can pop mine by pressing down on my pecs.

Then again, I snap, crackle, and pop when I move.

sternoclavicular joint?

My shoulders hips, and especially my knees pop... Every day. I also feel my sternum pop all the way from its bottom to my collarbone whenever I stretch my shoulders. It's nothing to worry about.

*Jordan is only 22 and has been to a doc 3x for knee problems already. He can be sitting or standing and be doing absolutely nothing and his joints will audibly pop, and his knees need to be "shaken out" every 20 min or so.

No because my sternum is sunken in. If it ever "popped", my heart would probably pop too.

mine does, every few weeks or so. It actually feels good when I can get it to pop, it feels kinda tight beforehand.
Also my hips pop, knees, ankles and wrists.. i'm a strange one.

Mine pops every couple days, usually when arching my back to stretch or reaching for something far away.

POP!

If it's still hurting, you probably popped a rib out just a bit.  Occasionally my sternum will pop, but I always feel a bit better after it does.

And someone mentioned hip.  Mine will do that.  Just feels incredibly tight.  I have to do some funky stretching to get it 'back in'.

Getting old sucks!

Did it while bench pressing a few years back. It actuall hurt to take every single breath. Take a pillow and put it across your chest  withboth ends under your arms.  Pull it tight to your chest and you should breath easier. I did atleast

Yes, but I used the steering column on a pickup to do it.....I really don't suggest that.

Sternum popping is almost an 'every morning' ritual for me, as well as cracking my toes, knuckles, and jaw.  Hell, I got more snap, crackle, and pops than a box of rice krispies.

Yep.  Freaks the folks out at work when it does it too.

I dislocated my right shoulder and tore my UCL in my right elbow back in 2007.  They routinely pop and hurt, but this one is new. Apparently it isn't all that uncommon- but it still sucks.  Do you guys continue to PT as regular if it hurts after, those of you who have done this before?  I was a bit worried and skipped working out yesterday.

Yes I did, had to go the chiropractor and get things snapped back into place.

Mine hurt in the side about 2 ribs up and felt like a knife.

Several times a day, except mine is usually more of a crack-crack-crack rather than a pop.

Mine pops all the time.

I actually separated mine, I couldn't do shit for almost a month.

I finally figured out what had happened.  I threw my back out and it made my rib pull out of my sternum.

The Chiro fixed me up after a couple visits.

My sternum has popped ever since I managed to seperate it by sneezing one day.  Popping it doesn't hurt, but I can still remember how badly things felt after that sneeze.

I can do it at will, .. but it's not a loud or painful thing... more like popping your finger joints.

I used to get chest pains while carrying a backpack.  One day I was stretching and my sternum made a huge pop.  I was sore for several days after, but never had the chest pains carrying a backpack again.

It would pop somewhat regularly, but doesn't do it as much now.  After the first one, it didn't hurt.

Pretty much every joint in my body pops.  I crack two different joints on each finger about 50 times a day.  At least once per hour I can straighten my legs and make my knees pop.  I can rotate my wrists or ankles and pop them over and over again.  Neck, collar bones, back, elbows and toes all pop.

Yeah.
I was clowing around with my cpl when I was lcpl. He punched me in the chest....he was a boxer...
it hurt for a bit, but since then, I can pop my sternum when I stretch. It doesnt hurt, and according the doctors, its not an issue....

Popped? No. Severely bruised? Yes. Bad enough that three years later, I still get pains in my chest. Especially if someone rests their elbows on it (like my wife)
