my dog sleeps like that frequently, once he fell off my bed, onto his bed while he was sleeping. He landed on his back like that and just went back to sleep without moving.

If there was a poll, I'd vote weird. I've seen dogs sort of like that when they're running in their sleep, but not like that all the time. |

Yup. My dog can fall asleep like that while laying on top of a snow bank on a sunny day.

I had two dogs that slept like that a lot of the time.
Once, one of our neighbors came in and saw them sleeping like that. Her little daughter asked if they were dead. The only time their dog did that was when he was playing dead.

When they are in that position it is a sign of total trust and comfort. That pic tells me that your dog gets alot of love and attention and she knows she has nothing to fear in her home.

My rotty sleeps like that ALOT but I think its because sh is too fat to roll over easily. Its pretty funny to watch them sleep like that.

Pretty normal for mine to sleep like that. All hell breaks loose when one of the cats jumps into the middle of her though

Some of my sled dogs used to sleep like that, most wouldn't leave their
vitals open in that way though. I think that the animal has to feel pretty damn secure in it's situation to leave it's self that vulnerable to attack. Translation: He/she trusts you and your hooch to keep it safe.  Nothing wrong with that tc6969 GM |

Here is my dog at 5 mos. We had a heat wave, so she decided that the best place to sleep was in the middle of the kitchen table, underneath the ceiling fan in a nest of my junk mail (BP excluded).

thought it was a summer thing with my GSD then well he started doing it in this cold snap we're having

My Lab sleeps like that almost always, I thought it was wierd, guess not. He has been doing it since he was a puppy.

both my dogs sleep like that. one usually leans up against the wall like that and the other does it every once in awhile. When you lean down to pet her she just flips over on her belly and lays there. It was kinda wierd the first couple days we had her.
