well, I'm from Texas, so you've got that part covered.....

but for Civil War stuff, the heavy metal band Iced Earth recently released a CD "The Glorious Burden" which ends in a 30 minute, 3 song epic about the Battle of Gettysburg. Might not be your kind of music, I know you're more into Willie and the like, but you might take a listen.

Lyrics to the Gettysburg trilogy are here, here and here.

Another excellent one is John Wayne's spoken word album, "America, Why I Love Her". It was out of print for many years but has recently been re-issued on CD. Amazon link

I think all we have is "Cleveland Rocks" by Ian Hunter. The POTUS did a lame cover that played during the opening of The Drew Carry Show.

That song is the suck. Of course, we also have "Four Dead in Ohio" (Kent State) and rap group Bones, Thugs & Harmony give Cleveland shout outs.

Don't forget "Four Dead in Ohio" ....not our proudest moment.

Don't forget the oldie "Indian Lake", not really about history...but I hear there were some pretty big riots up there back in the 60s.

Hail Minnesota

Minnesota, hail to thee!
Hail to thee, our state so dear,
Thy light shall ever be
A beacon bright and clear.
Thy son and daughters true
Will proclaim thee near and far,
They shall guard thy fame and adore thy name;
Thou shalt be their Northern Star.

Like the stream that bends to sea,
Like the pine that seeks the blue;
Minnesota, still for thee
Thy sons are strong and true.
From the woods and waters fair;
From the prairies waving far,
At thy call they throng with their shout and song;
Hailing thee their Northern Star.

"Hello from the Gutter" by Overkill. Applies to 3 of the last 4 states I have lived in.

Well. I would like to tribute one for Virginia.

Virginia oh great Virginia
So much better than that crap hole state Maryland that Mjohn3006 came from.
Virginia oh great Virginia
Where gun laws are not anal
Virginia oh great Virginia
Where the civil engineers that calculate the traffic light timing could not find their ass with both hands.
Virginia oh great Virginia
Where no one can park in between the lines to save their life
Virginia oh great Virginia
Where despite the traffic problems its still so much better than that crap hole Maryland.
Virginia oh great Virginia
