Guys, anybody ever totally shot out a gun before, where not only it couldn't shoot anymore, but it was impossible or too costly to fix?

Guns seem to me to be phenomally hard objects, resistant to wear. How many rounds would do one in?

I have a XD 9MM Subcompact that I have shot 25k+ in the last 18 months....I think it is good for another 75k.

Have never had a single problem except my front sight came loose and I had to re set it and use some red loctite to keep it in place.

Glenfield model 60. Wore that gun completely out. Probably could have been resurrected with a new bolt.

i had a winchester .264 mag. i wore the headspace out of the barrel. -although that is not hard to do with that round.

what a massive piece of shit

my little brother bought one...after 1500 or so rounds you couldn't hit the broad side of a barn with it.

don't know if we shot it out (not even 2000 rounds), but it sure didn't shoot worth a shit during our last range session.

my platoon broke two M2 .50 cal MGs beyond repair when we were tasked with burning up 15,000 rounds of ammo to keep our numbers up for the year. those two went to depot and got replaced with new refubs, but we also managed to break parts on every single .50 in the battallion

Wore one like this slap out. RG makes such fine guns anyway. It would spit out about half the bullet in double action. I took it to a smith that said to lay it on an anvil and smash it. My then brother in law stopped me and said he wanted it. I gave it to him. When I went to his house a month or so later Iasked if he had fixed the revolver. He had laid it on an anvil and smashed it.

Did you clean it?

A good chance you just got a hold of a bad one. It does happen from time to time regardless the company that made them.
I have a Ruger Super Redhawk in 454 casull that I've put about 3400 rounds through and it still locks up tight and will print 2 inches at 25 yds if I do my part. I also have a Ruger MKII .22 that I've used in competition and hunting and seriously have about 10,000 rnds through it and it will still hold them in there real close again at 25 yds. Usually about an inch if I shoot it off a rest with good ammo. My Dad has a GP 100 that he bought when they first came out and he still shoots it regularly and it is still going strong as well.
One of those things.

I've tried, to no avail. Even the 1910's era Savage 99 is still in good shape, and it shoots the high velocity 250-3000.

I wore out an armscor m1600 r. It went full auto on me after 20k rds and kept going another 2 k rds after that.

At one time, my HK USP had over 10,000 rounds through it and I wore out the slide to the point it needed to be replaced by HK.

I've got a new slide that works fine now...

I bought the gun used (Former police gun) and I have no idea how many rounds the previous owner put through it...

I wore out the grip frame on a Blackhawk. All the holes in it are oblong. There is a problem with the latch spring protruding from the loading gate latch too. I don't know what part wore to cause that, but it ties up the gun. And the cylinder bolt is kind of sloppy now too. I think I put 20,000+ rounds through it, many 158gr magnum loads (16.6gr W296).

Oh, and a Winchester 190 .22 Auto. And a Mossberg 500.

A Sears BB gun, my first.
Blew out the cylinder so I got a .22 Browning rifle for Christmas. The BB gun was later stolen, no big loss.

I must have shot 100 bricks through the Browning and it is still holding up well. (The wood does need some help.)

No one will beleive me, but an SKS.

2 cases of ammo in about 2 and a half hours. You can't keep ANY barrel that hot, that long. It was ALL preloaded onto stripper clips. It's round count was already over 70k though.

shot till some of them broke, but I wouldn't say they were wore out. A Kimmel AP9 had some plastic part in the plastic lower break on me. My Beretta 303 used for skeet was getting the rattles. Broke 1/2 a dozen Cobray M11/9 hammers, cocking knobs

I killed an M249

We linked 300+ rounds of tracer up and let her rip. That weapon was such a POS. It never worked right. We decided to kill it in hopes to get it DX'd and get a replacement.

Damn, no shit. I have one of these, infact took my girl out shooting it today. She really likes it. Told her she can pretty much have it when i get the new AR. Atleast 2 FTF's per mag fired today.
