Yea, because this isn't going to haunt that girl for life or anything. I bet she did an end zone dance before the smell of gunpowder cleared.
Would you rather that she had run away? Or that she had just watched in horror? Or that she face charges now? Would that be better for you?
This wasn't an accidental shooting: The guy was out on bail with a restraining order, he broke into the house, he was in the process of murdering her aunt. This young lady didn't choose to be in this situation.
While I'm sure she would prefer that incident this had never happened, I'm also quite sure she'll recover a lot quicker knowing that she saved her aunt, herself, and likely her kid from violent deaths at the hands of an abusive pyschopath, rather than re-living the helpless feeling of seeing her aunt choked to death and being unable to do anything about it.
