I was wondering how much hand to hand combat actually takes place in modern wars today. What go me thinking was that pic of a Salvadorian soldier with a bloody knife in Iraq who ran out of ammo and went hand to hand with Zarqarwi's finest. How much of that sort of thing happen, esp in urban combat?

IIRC, the British Army's Black Watch did a bayonet charge a few years ago in Iraq. That's pretty up close and personal.

War is War, is does not stop when ammo runs dry. There are a few US accounts, one of an SF NCO going hand to hand in a hut in Afganistan. The Marines have a lot of house to house, room to room fights. They issue a knife for a reason.

Is H2H important?

The Rangers sure think so. They spend a hell of a lot of money and time bringing in BJJ and Muay Thai instructors to train their boys at Benning.

Maybe, but only if enough non mutated humans are around to fight it.

Maybe it won't even happen as there will be enough room for the remaining population to spread out for a few centuries.

really why?? didnt hear that one.

They got ambushed, held under fire for approx. 2 hours by 100 terrorists (there were 12+ of them). When relief arrived, it was on the far side of the ambush and they were out of ammo. So they fixed bayonets and charged.

They ended up with 46 dead terrorists, 8 wounded and the rest got away. Some wag here mentioned that the SMAJ was going to be giving remedial bayo training for those whose targets lived to be captured.
