In Sunset Hills, a St. Louis suburb where I went to High School, a guy knocked on someone's back door, and told the homeowner he needed some gas. When the homeowner started to tell him it's around the side of the house, the bad guy zapped him with a stun gun and forced his way into the house. The homeowner then grabbed a handgun and shot the dude in the head.

Gee, that proves 2 things.

I don't understand why the homeowner couldn't just reason with the burgler and come to a civil agreement. Or why didn't the homeowner just let the burgler take what he wanted, and then call the police after the burgler left?

If somebody I know knocks on my door when I am not expecting them, I will be holding a gun when I answer it, regardless of time of day.
