I was wondering the same thing. I have a Bushmaster with the mini y comp. I was told that it would destroy the barrel if it was removed. Is that true?

an A2 won't get you to 16" bbl length, you need a phantom

It's easy to forget that it's not the OAL of the flash suppressor, it's how much it extends the barrel. The OAL of the A2 suppressor is about 1 3/4 inches, but since it screws down, it only extends a little over 1 inch beyond the end of the barrel.

Kurt, of KurtsKustom here on ARFCOM's Industry board, makes what he calls an A3 length muzzle device. It can be a brake or a flash suppressor. It was specifically designed to bring an M4 barrel out to 16".
