Just goes to show....Buzz is better than reality.

Anyone that would discount Howard Stern's
influence on radio would be an idiot.

His time has past, however...

Just the way it goes.

I've never listend to Howard Stern on the radio.

Saw him once on TV.  Couldn't stand to look at his face for more than 5 minutes.

IIRC, the same happened to cable tv at the get go.

I think I'm going to buy some now, of both.

And lot of people did the same with internet stocks about four years ago. And telecom equipment companies... Sometimes stocks go down, and stay down.

Stern briefly influenced radio back in the 1980's. He's hardly some mega groundbreaking pioneer.

I preferred the Greaseman back in the day, but he has been de-fanged these days.  Stern is mostly good at being disgusting. The local morning radio show around here is much more entertaining.

C'mon dude.

Howard was the best at pushing....pushing...pushing...and in a lame attempt, Greaseman, and,
hell....O&A, etc....They all desperately tried to copy and, they couldn't do it...They
eventually were killed off.

Look at the $...Man, it's that simple.

I respect you thought Greaseman, or whomever was superior....I could care less.

Look at the numbers man.  Cash don't lie.

Lots of things that suck make big money. How else can you explain disco, rap music, reality TV, etc.??  Radio personalities are meaningless enough in the big picture of life that I don't bother to become a really big fan or anything like that. I simply preferred Greaseman to Stern. Neither was king of anything. Stern cashed in. So did Boy George back in his time.  JMHO, and as usual, YMMV.

Sure, what he means is that Howard is an arrogant, obnoxious, elitist, one-trick-wonder fuckhead who has no redeaming value, lost his ability to be funny back around 1993, and generally chugs the man-meat.

Howard is an asshole, plain and simple.

XM is shelling out big bucks for Oprah. I have Sirius and don't listen to Stern. They have alot of good programing. Cam & Company from the NRA news. Gun Talk and two Fox News channels. If you spend alot of time driving it is well worth the money to have Sirius.

If I had to choose between Stern or Oprah. I'll take Stern.

The deal with Oprah is for $55 mill. and probably a good business move, 500+ mill. to Howie is a horrible business move.

ETA: I do drive a LOT and have had Sirius and XM, I kept the XM. Howard is a has been, O& A are where it's at now.

PLEASE dude.....All props to the Wolfman...Noone doubts his creds.........Who was the dude back in
Cleveland, though?  There's alwayas somone else that can take a title.

Howard Stern was a single handed reolution.

I'm not a huge fan of his materiel, or style, but, you CAN'T argue against his influence on the medium of radio.

WHAT revolution???  All he did was push the edge of what filth the FCC would tolerate. That's hardly creative.  All he did was cash in. He's not the "king" of anything and never will be. There have always been pleanty of "shock jocks" across the country. We've had a morning comedy show, at times with shock jocks, on the main FM station in Baltimore since 1978 (before Stern).  Stern landed in NYC and its huge market, and got himself syndicated. He was LUCKY, not revolutionary.  His movie was pretty good though.   Again, JMHO.
