"As far back as I could remember,I always wanted to be a gangster"

Goodfellas just came on,(one of the few I havent got on video,so I scramble for the TIVO!) and I was wondering........if you could pick one gangster's life to live out, except for the violent end,

WHO WOULD YOU BE ???

a Corleone?

Tony Montana?

a Soprano?

Al Capone?

Who?

Now Im not advocating the gangster lifestyle( especially with vivid recolections of the end of Casino and Joe Pesci's intimate knowledge of a baseball bat), Im wondering about the PRE-violent endings.

Hey........its good to wonder about something besides zombies.

James Cagney - "White Heat"

Can't get any better than that.

Hollywood makes organized crime look like fun, I have a problem with that. I'm sure not all of them have violent endings and not all of them end up rich either. I think Goodfellas is a decent depiction overall in that era of organized crime.

Let's see.........Tony had it awful rough for the first 26 years or so.  The next two damn near got him killed constantly.  And his life was falling apart almost as soon as he got situated.

Go Corleone/Andolini.  Not Sonny, not Fredo.  Tom Hagen.  Smart, strong, vital to and a member of the family.

And "Whitey" Bulger is currently the reigning hide & seek champion in real life.

When a lower level mob goon is dragged in by the feds, they spill their guts about burying dead bodies in the berms at ... crap, forgot which gun club and I don't want to say the wrong one.  Let's just say their berms get moved around every month.

My great aunt was picked up by Al Capone once. She said he wasn't all that special.

As far as Hollyweird gangstas, I would be Frank Sinatra and have fun with the Rat Pack.

Now there's a pair of actors that were actors.  They definitely don't make them like that anymore.

And I nominate as the 3rd best.  Richard Widmark - How can you forget the scene in Kiss of Death where he pushes the little old lady in the wheelchair down the stairs and giggles while doing it
