Looks amazingly soft recoiling & controllable. The barrel changes are damn impressive, too.

I'm not sure a pool of water counts as 'maritime'. No matter how idyllic and enchanted it might be.

Maybe their new U-boats run on baking soda.

A better comparison would be the Mk. 48 which is the US designation for the lightweight 7.62 FN Minimi.

ETA: the line between SAW, LMG and GPMG blurs further

I don't think I have ever seen a HK factory video thatr doesn't inlcude either someone coming out of water with a MG, dunking said MG in water etc.

Otherwise, cool video.  Lack of recoil is impressive

Maybe the retard at USMC acquisitions thought he was buying this to replace the SAW

Although I still prefer the MG3.

It was not meant to be a replacement for the 240, more or less as a competitor to it for the German Army as they are trying to phase out the MG3.

Looks like it to me in parts, but I can't tell for sure. Maybe part of the recoil mitigation?

ETA: Just watched it again full screen. I don't think it is.

Still not quite sure how I feel about not being able to change the barrel and the whole forced air cooled thing. I think I would stick with the PKM.

Yeah, I watched a couple of more times and it looks like the receiver and barrel are reacting to the recoil in one piece.

As a gesture of solidarity with Germany, I'll take some of their soon to be obsolete MG3s off their hands and make a donation of $100 per gun to the charity of their choice.

SEALs will be all over that shit.  My German is rusty, but I think they said each gun came with a case of hair gel, a bottle of spray tan, and a pair of Oakleys..
