This is my local paper here in Indiana. I don't know who's voting for Kerry in this poll, but I doubt Kerry will win Indiana.

I detest polls that don't AT LEAST list the 4 major parties. I'll be voting for Badnarik... why? Check out the firearms Q's he answered on the Pink Pistols political questionnaire:

Candidate's Name : Michael J. Badnarik

Political Party: Libertarian Party

Office you are running for: President of the United States

State: N/A

County: N/A

District: N/A

1) Do you believe that the Second Amendment confirms the
individual right of every American citizen to possess and use
(update of keep and bear) militia/military weapons for individual
self-defense, as well as for the defense of the State / National
defense?

YES

2) If elected would you support legislation for the removal of
firearm laws and regulations? If your answer is yes, and if you
are elected, what specific legislation would you propose/support
to ensure that this individual right is protected? Which current
laws which infringe upon this individual right would you seek to
repeal?

YES.

As president, one of my first actions would be to direct all
executive branch departments to stand down enforcement of the
more than 20,000 unconstitutional federal victim disarmament --
"gun control" -- laws now on the books; and to direct the Justice
Department, Attorney General and Solicitor General to defend that
action in court as necessary.

Following that, I would empanel a commission in the Justice
Department to identify and draw up bills of repeal for each of
these federal laws. These bills of repeal would be presented to
Congress for passage and I'd bring such influence as the office
of the presidency has at its disposal to bear in assuring their
passage.

Naturally I would veto any new victim disarmament legislation, or
any renewal of existing, sunsetting victim disarmament
legislation.

Further, I would instruct the Justice Department's Civil Rights
Division and our nation's US Attorneys to conduct a survey of
state and local victim disarmament legislation. Since the Second
Amendment reserves the right to keep and bear arms to the people,
not the states, and since the right to keep and bear arms is
foundational to the republican form of government which the
federal government is Constitutionally required to guarantee to
the states, I'd initiate action in the Supreme Court to nullify
those state and local restrictions.

*3) What do you consider are "legitimate" reasons to own a
firearm?* Check as many as apply:

Personal Defense
Home Defense
Defense of your country (Unorganized Militia)
Hunting
Farm Use
Competitive Shooting
Informal Sport Shooting
Informal Target Practice and/or Plinking
Collecting
Constitutional Rights
Just because. No reason is necessary.
Other: Any reason which does not involve the initiation
of force against others (and then the use of force, not the
ownership of the firearm, is at issue)
All of the above
[ ] None of the above

*4) Would you support the banning of some firearms or ammunition?
(IE: Saturday night specials, "assault weapons", Hollow points,
and "Safety Slugs") Why and to what extent?*

NO

The right to self-defense is not negotiable or limited.

Further, the Second Amendment was clearly aimed at facilitating
ownership, by individuals, of the most current, state of the art
military weaponry. Given that the military possesses
intercontinental ballistic missiles capable of deploying
multiple, high-megatonnage thermo-nuclear warheads, the sky is
literally the effective limit to personal weapons ownership.

5) Do you believe that firearm owners should be required to have
licenses or permits to own or carry firearms? Do you believe
training for such licenses should be mandatory? Why?

NO

"Licenses" and "permits" are issued to those taking advantage of
a privilege. The exercise of a right, by definition, means that
no permission is needed.

Better IMO, that EITHER Kerry OR Bush... and voting for the "lesser of 2 evils" is STILL voting for evil....
