I dont actually see smoke comming from that. Maybe the kid is just playing with it. He sees his father doing it and wants to be like him, so he puts a cig in mouth and pretends to be smoking.
Or maybe he saw Joe Camel do it and he has no choice because Big Tobacco markets cigarettes to children, or some liberal bullshit like that. Just keep that pic away from the anti-corporate liberals. They will say that is a homeless kid in New Orleans because Bush doesnt care about minorities and wants them to get lung cancer. |

While this is sad that his parents dont know better - the thread title is missleading.
What does this mean? There is Poor people in china? Hey - nothing like a good ol' WAR to get the poor people into a functional job (look at germany!) The whole global economic co-dependency is why they wont be a threat. And their current social/economics innternally is way behind us and wont catch up for as l ong as there is govt. control (unless WE gain govt control too) |

China has some of the most advanced, civilized and modern cities anywhere. Much of their infrastructure is brand new and as 'nice' as any US city true, you can find some back-woods hillbilly types and those who would do anything for a penny, but the same can be said of almost any country - including this one The China situation is far more threatening to our way of life than most realize. Communism is down-played now, and our economy now depends on them. They have cash reserves that are staggering and are modernizing their military at an alarming rate all while we sit idly by and pump cash out here like it were water. |

That pretty much summarizes what, in my mind, is the REAL threat that the Chinese and Islam pose to the U.S. It's not that they have more people than we do. It's not that they're "smarter" or more "industrious" or even that we allow them to "steal" all our advanced technology or anything else. It's that they are bound by none of the moralistic bullshit that is, in the end, our Achilles heel. |

If you've never been to China, or a lot of other foriegn nations not associated with western ideals then you have no clue.
That kid smoking is not that unusual. When I was in China I saw a mother walking her two sons down the sidewalk. One must have had to go to the bathroom so she told him to whip it out and he pissed on the side of a building. No one batted an eye except for me a few others from the US. Bathrooms are usually holes in the ground and people just squat over them. On construction sites men, women, anybody usually picks a spot and does there business there. Some dark places get pretty darn stinky. Smoking is the norm. Almost everyone smokes or will offer you smokes. I've worked with the Japanese who are very much the same. Personal hygeine is not something that is a big concern over there; especially considering they wiper their butt with their left hand (never touch their left hand!). Shower curtains are not used and typical bathrooms have a hole where all the waste (including where you do your buisness at) runs into and out of the building. Why do you think that almost every virus and flu known to man seems to start in that region? |
