My bride of 36 years took the 'Scheduled update' prompt bait and now I can not get my Sony VAIO to boot. It goes back to the booting screen regardless which F8 option I select, even the recovery option. I also tried F2 to look at the BIOS to see if I could utilize a different drive. I did notice that the USB/MMC/etc. port light does activate.

Any way back to normalcy?

BTW, no I do not have an 'a:' drive.

TIA!!!!!

Oh BTW, yes, I can be more vague: 'puter'....

T_B_S, I'll that a shot as soon as I find where the same bride 'tidied up' the disk. Boy, I'm gone for four days and ....
