I pulled my husband's camero out of the garage so the kids could work their dogs and it started raining. I went to put the car back in and it died on me in gear [I didn't get it warmed up enough]. So I put it in nutral to restart it and it won't turn over [nadda, zip, nothing] I tried to put it in park - won't go into park. I can't get it in the garage and we're now having an electrical storm and hail. One dent in this baby and I'm toast.

Here's pictures:

here's the car with its butt hanging out of shop

Heres the dern gear shifts stuck in neutral

Here's the o-coke that's keeping me from getting it into park or drive

I tried pushing it but I can't get it over hte ledge. Patty

try rocking it over the ledge.

And wtf is the hubby?

I can't get the darn thing to budge. I rock it and it rolls further out in the driveway.

Put it in park or a block of would behind the tires and set the brake.

1) Throw CLEAN horse blankets over the ass end of the car so that if it does hail, the car doesn't get kluged-up.

2) Have your kids help you push the car back into the garage.

3) WTF is an "o-coke"?

YOU ARE SCREWED

Link Posted: 8/1/2005 8:26:30 AM EDT
kick a block under the tire each time you rock it forward
Link Posted: 8/1/2005 8:26:35 AM EDT
YOU'RE MARRIED?!?

Damn, another fantasy shattered.

Guess I'll go sit on the curb and start drinking.

I don't care about the car or anything else anymore.

An ant hill is more of an obstacle than that "ledge". Push harder.

Its a thing a ma jig that sticks at the end of the gear shift, it is some leaver that won't budge so I can get the car into park. Only GOD knows why its there - must be so wives can't drive car.

When your husband gets home, BLAME THE KIDS!

If that doesn't work, make it his fault for not having a car that runs!

Did you try lifting UP on the level as you tried to move it?

I believe if I'm living in a few hours - I'll be single.

The darn thing won't budge. My son is 16, pretty strong for a tall skinny boy we can't even get the thing to rock. You can't tell by the picture but its a bit of a slope down.

I have to figure out how to move that darn lever so I can get it in park and start the car.

Not a good situation! I hope it works out for you. Maybe you should call the hubby and see if he wants to come home and help. I would to protect that car!

Got any pulleys around?

I've got a wench. What do I hook it too?

do you have a floor jack?? the one with wheels and a long handly.
if you do , put it under the rear differentail jack it up till the rear wheels are off the ground and push it back in the garage

Be sure to post pics after you push it THROUGH the front wall of the garage . Good luck Patty.

The car probably weighs closer to a ton and a half but who's worried about that?

Push it back out of the garage some and get a good run/push on it going back in.

Put the blankets or something over it so no hail will get it!

Get a floor jack and jack up the back end (both wheels slightly off the ground), then push it in.

I hook my wench to a post in the bedroom, but I don't know what that has to do with a stalled Camaro.

are you kidding me?

Is the parking brake off? Is it in neutral?

COME ON!!!

And PLEASE do not put ANY tool to that care Patty. I still recall how you almost killed yourself trying to jump a battery by hooking it up wrong.

Proof positive that if you can't spell it, you have ZERO business behind the wheel of a Camaro.

oh boy, someone's gonna get it tonight.

Sounds like the tranny neutral switch is in between gears. Push down on the silver button on the L-Rods and move the shift lever a little forward or back or grab the collar around the steering column and twist left & right while holding the key in the crank position. You know how to operate the lightning rods? There is the reverse lockout lever there that you have to pull back while you shift back into park.

Why did you need to go out anyways?

If the shifter is stuck in Neutrel, then you should be able to push the car forward.

Does the chrome part on top of the shifter press down? If so, press down on that button and shift the shifter to gear.

I had a GTO like that and a Olds Cutlass.

I did it. I put bricks behind the rear tires and got in the back and pushed and got it rocking. Then Will helped and we got it over the edge. BLAH - is it too early to start drinking?

Looks like it has those goofy "lightning rod" shifters...

The Neutral safety switch is probably keeping it from starting...

If you fiddle with the levers enough (doesn't sound good huh ?) you should be able to get it into park and get it started. My old quarter stick shifter, you had to push the little chrome lever forward, then push the shift lever forward.
The little chrome lever is a reverse lockout device. It won't let the shifter go into reverse or park until you push on it...
It's designed to be done with one hand. I hate those lightning rod shifters...It's a REALLY retarded ratchet-like arrangement.

BTW...

"Camero" is spelled: CAMARO...

Okay now that I have the car safely in the garage - that is pretty funny. I can never remember winch/wench -- regardless of what I wrote I would have been wrong!
