ARChoo, i'm sorry to burst yours pal, but the 1999(my year Busa)clocked 196mph STOCK, on a bike with 5 miles on it-yes, hardly broken in.
It also did the qtr. mile in 9.89, the fastest 1/4 mile time recorded on a stock street bike, and the fastest top speed ever recorded on a street bike...
and that was with a STOCK bike.
My bike's got a Hindle pipe(which weighs about 40 lbs. less than the stock dual units), a PC-II(which allows you to re-mapp the computer-which mine has been, a MTH airbox(which allows more air to come in through the ram-air, at higher speeds)an APE manual tensioner(which will let you do 200mph. speeds without worrying about your cam chain tensioner snapping), Muzzy alum. fan(to cool things off a bit nicer), and an array of other goodies which would take me another half hour to list.
For your info, I've done the 9/10ths. of a mile(that's just under a mile)from a stand still, and was clocked by GPS and radar at 198.5 mph.
I've burried the speedo numerous times(which shows 220mph.-but with speed error, more like 201-202mph.)
Finally, I'd like to say, that the 2001 Busa IS INDEED governed, but not the '99-'00 Busas.
And a TRE(timing retard) would bypass that governor and allow the '01 Busa to see those speeds as well. You see, the '01 is governed in 1st. gear-so as not to snap your silly ass and loop over when hammering it, and also in 6th gear-so as not to allow it to go past the "legal" 183 mph...The TRE fools the timing retard into thinking it's in a different gear(which is not retarded-as 1st/6th are)
Hope you learned something.
