This was sent to me today. I hope its not true. http://www.veteranstoday.com/2013/12/08/wounded-warriors-project-a-legal-scam/ |

$155mil in revenue and the top level exec. only gets $333k?
Honestly, sounds fair. As far as WWP being a scam, there have always been questions as to how much exactly is done for veterans, and there are far better sources to get more money directly to the hands of the disabled. |
unfortunately most of the funds they collect go to them for running their charity. Funny how they want everyone to donate EXCEPT them. As a vet i am offended by their business model. they appear to be making a living off of our backs.
Scam? If you're comfortable with that label. In reality, it is not out of line when compared to other large charities. Running a business, and American charities are businesses, is very expensive.
i used to work for a large well known international childrens charity , and after a few years of seeing the execs get 6 digit very high salaries like 400k/yr and flying 1st class , buying 10k$ worth a computer equip/gadgets per person when 2k$ worth would have been fine and running up 4k$ a month cell phone bills and 1k$ bar/food tabs every day, I left and have never donated a penny to anything again.
selling tears is very profitable. if you want to help people , buy the stuff yourself and get hands on with those in need so you see where it goes and how its used. |
As mentioned, all charities and non-profits are nothing more than a scam. You are paying for private jets and high class hookers, a trickle of change might actually be given to the people in need.

I wouldn't call it a scam, but they don't do near as much as they could for veterans.
I used to volunteer with the Coalition to Salute America's Heroes, and that was great for about two years, then it went down the same path as WWP. Now, the only veterans charity I donate/volunteer with is SOWW. Great group of guys here: http://www.sowwcharity.com/ |

I no longer give anything to WWP. Fisher House now receives my support.

Doesn't veteranstoday.com post a lot of crackpot stuff?
ETA: Yup. A whole bunch of Troofer nonsense and "the jews did it!" |

There was a thread here a couple months ago where a member said after he was injured they showed up to the hospital, handed out shirts/hats, took a bunch of pictures, then left. I also posted my story about the WWP in that thread (im on my phone and arent going to type all that out). Im sure someone on a desktop can find it.

we have been supporting this one for 3 years

I stopped donating to them a couple of years ago. Much better programs out there.

ALL large non-proffit charities are like that.
Unless you are significantly underwriten by a supporting company (that pays the operational payroll) part of the donation will have to goto payroll and campaign/advertising costs. |
As I said before, it started out with good intentions - but now it's strictly a Marketing company that happens to donate money to help wounded vets.

Inefficient, antigun, and morally bankrupt. Fuckem. View Quote Yes I'd call it a scam. There are many fine veterans charities that do far more then line their pockets like this bunch. 5 mins of searching will land you with a good one. I like to sell old computer, shooting gear, and of course clothing, to give to these charities. When Im retired I hope to do a lot of volunteer work. Get the word out about this bunch. |

Whomever designed the logo gets an "A+". Whomever runs the marketing department needs an "A+". People buy WWP gear to look cool. Those two dudes got the job done.

Here's what turned me against them.
You run a hunting lodge. Lie a really high dollar, al; inclusive hunting lodge for insanely rich people. You want to bring wounded vets to your lodge to hunt for free. You contact WWP, they say " are you willing to make a cash donation?" You say no, I want to show some vets a good time WWP project says " unless you are willing to make a cash donation, no thanks" this story has happened repeatedly. THey don't give two shit about wounded vets, they only want your money. ANd they only help vets who have "sexy" injuries that they can put on TV to coerce people into giving more money. Fuck WWP. |
