I am working on getting into the spirit of the gunslinger type of character for a novel that I am writing as a part of my Senior Project for my English BA.

What are some of the better action-oriented western/gunslinger writers or novels?

thanks

If you want something with a bit of a fantasy/post-apocalypse spin on the gunslinger motif, check out the Jon Shannow novels by David Gemmell. Wolf in Shadow, The Last Guardian, & Bloodstone. I think there's also a collection of them called Chronicles of the Jerusalem Man, or something like that.

Those are some of my favorite books.

I like to read the William Johnstone/J A Johnstone stuff like the loner, last gunfighter and mountain man series.  (William wrote the Out of the Ashes series if you are familiar with that)
