Actually, where is the show?
I remember going there once years ago, and having a hard time finding it. But the show seemed pretty good - better than the smaller ones in St. Louis. But don't ask ME about handgun sales [:)] - don't you need a FOID card or something to buy a handgun in Illinois? Come to think of it - do you need that to buy ammo as well? If that's the case, I may as well not even go. |

The Bellevile show is held at the fair ground just south of downtown - just take the main drag through town, and follow your instincts.
In Illinois, you need an FOID if you are an Illinois resident to handle guns or ammo at the show. Missouri residents need to show a driver's license. Some dealers are extremely hostile if you touch anything on their table without showing an Id first, so be forewarned. HKocher In Missouri, the purchaser of a handgun must have a permit issued by the sheriff of the county where you reside. This includes private sales. Many handguns that are not burdened by a paperwork trail are traded and sold privately without a permit anyway - it's not legal, but it's fact. Each countie's sheriff pretty well sets his own rules for a waiting period for the permit, up to 7 days. The seller of any firearm is probably wise to record the serial number of the gun and the name and address of the buyer - cover your tail. I may try to go over - I want to pick up at least another brick of Aguila standard velocity .22 rimfire. The Belleville show is okay; the Colinsville show is pretty good. There will be another show in Wentzville the weekend of 2 February, at the old Belz Mall. The first one, just after Christmas was also prety fair - no smoke, good lights, and new vendors to this area. |

I'll keep an eye out for you in case you decide to go. Thanks for the info, like I said before, MO laws suck. I hope to find a dealer who isn't a jerk, so I can do a fair trade, and have him wait for my papers. I hope to find that USP Tact... For those of you who haven't met me, I'll be there around 1 or 2 carrying around a blue Springfield case with my TRP. I might carry my M4, because I'm going shooting right after, and I'm not too keen on leaving it in the car. It's bowflaged so it'll be hard to miss. Hope to see some of you guys there. |

Well I couldn't make it Saturday - had to install a new storm door for my wife. Will try tomorrow.
How was the show? Did anyone notice a vendor with a good selection of Weaver scopes? |

Even in IL, with it's Draconian gun laws, if you're 21 and have a FOID card and the money, you can buy a handgun whenever you want, without any permits or informing any agency. Unless of course you live in Chicago or one of half a dozen other communities which ban all handguns. |
