Have you, or do you know anyone who has bought a gun because they saw it in a movie, game or other media?

I personally haven't, but my Stepfather bought an S&W Model 29 in '71 after Dirty Harry came out, shot it once or twice, then never shot it again for 30+ years. It wasn't until I bought him a few boxes of .44 Special 5 years ago, that he started shooting it again. Also pop culture driven - I reminded him that in Magnum Force, Det Callahan said he used a 'light special' load to give him more control.

I worked in a gun store when the Call Of Duty series of games were at their peak.  Every 20-35 yr old gamer would come in asking for M1 Garands.

Funny thing, that. My old man asked me about M1's a few years ago, after I bought him Gran Torino for his birthday. Basically he likes anything that Clint Eastwood's characters used.

I haven't.

I was the smart ass 18-21 year old that was POSITIVE the best weapon you could own was a pump shotgun, the best pistol was a 1911, and the best rifle was chambered in 7.62. AR15s are gay, that whole nonsense.

Unfortunately, since that time, I've learned to love lots of different guns and try to stay away from superlatives.

Desert Eagles, are always in movies, and I think the round is neat, but it's far down my want list.

I've always loved Garands, but I think that's more historical than related to cinema.

I guess the mini gun from T2, butI can't afford it. I love how in both T2 and The Matrix, they work in shots of the bottom just shitting brass everywhere. Definitely want one of those.

45-70s are fucking awesome.

I wanted a lever, decided I wanted 45-70.

Would not have thought I'd have shot it as much as I do.

Easily one of my favorite cartridges.
