No one is IBTP, but I did get PWNED in the race. That should be Glock 19 #2

Haven't had one of these threads in a day or so.

I'm supposed to meet a guy tomorrow to sell my Mini-14 (I don't think anyone here will have their feelings hurt over that.)

I don't think I'm going to stash it and add $1k to it for some big purchase at this point but I'd like to keep gun money as gun money.

Bases I feel I have covered:
More than 1 AR
Defensive shotgun
.22 rifle, pistol and revolver
.357 revolver
Glock 19
Glock 26 is a smaller carry/BUG
Glock 30
Smith 642 Airweight

Also:
Hunting guns
A good safe
Decent ammo stash

Things I'm not looking to buy right now:
1911 (when I do this I'm going to buy a custom)
.308 (to set it up like I'd want, I'd be in to a rifle for $2k min and I don't shoot long range guns near as much any more. I'm more of a believer in the 300 inch fight reality over the 300 meter and beyond)

My primary use of my guns lately is CCW. The last 4 in the list are guns that make my carry rotation. I shoot the other stuff fairly regularly but carry every day and therefore shoot my handguns and namely my G19 probably 25 rounds to 1 against my other guns. My G19 is my primary carry gun and I have good holsters and gear to accomodate it. If I were to ever have more than one of the same handgun, it would definitely be the G19 for me.

Now some of you will probably want to use this logic I have come up with so you'll get what you paid for this thread:

I shoot the 19 well and it is my favorite handgun by far. It's my go-to gun. I've recently been thinking about picking up a couple spare mags (I already have several extras) and some replacement parts to keep on hand because mechanical devices break. By the time I add up spare parts and mags, I'm already in to it for $100, so why the hell not call that a credit and just buy another G19? I will still buy parts over time I'm sure but I digress. I train with the 19 and always take my 26 as a spare in case it should break, so why not have another G19 to take instead? Share mags, ammo and holsters I already have.

I have become way too practical as of late. I like having a lot of different things, but the truth is if we ever have to we'll probably fight with gun we have on us and 90% of the time the gun I have on me is the 19. In a SHTF situation I'm not going to be patrolling the streets with a carbine and a chest rig, but most likely trying to blend in with my 19 concealed. Also, my wife is familiar with the Glock platform and shoots my 19 and 26 well.

Anyway, this isn't a "I've already made up my mind tell me to do it thread". I appreciate the input of everyone here.

Forgot to mention I am currently setting up my schedule to attend another training course in the spring most likely. At this point, I'm looking at Tactical Response Fighting Pistol with my fellow G19 advocate James Yeager. Sorry, no armchair commando here, I spend my time in the dirt!

ETA: Also, no credit card debt or car payments right now. Wife and I basically have a modest mortgage and standard living expenses. We're not fans of debt.

Yeah man the G19 is a proven shooter, but just curious why the 19 over the 17? Between the two I'd go with the mod 17.

Go for it.

I carry a G19 as well, and my next purchase is gonna be another G19...4th gen.

Big bore lever gun.

Or if your looking for a new handgun then guess you can't really go wrong with a backup to your current G19.

Ahh, sorry I should have mentioned that. I picked the G19 as my very first carry gun because it is a midsize gun that I can conceal easily, wear it to a training course, shoot 1k through it comfortable, wipe it off, load it up with carry ammo, holster it and carry it back home. I had considered a 17 for variety, but again, the practicality comes back in. I just use the 19 every day so why not stick with it.

Also, I will be buying another 3rd Gen, no 4th Gen for me.

Don't tempt me with a Marlin Guide Gun! Honestly, I had a guy offer to trade me a nice Marlin 336 with optics, but here comes my Practicality Nazi yelling at me about another gun that will again get shot 1 round to 25 against the 19.

Shot my G19 and G34 today at 10 yds.  As usual I shoot the G19 better (all on a pie-sized paper plate from the holster).

Reloading equipment.

The glock 19 is my favorite all around pistol. Yes I love 1911's and hi powers.  If I could just have one to carry and shoot. ITs the 19

You can never have too many Glocks.

Alternative choices and rationale:

AK because they're cool and fun. 5.45 is cheap right now, too.

G17 because, it's like, bigger than the 19.

KelTec Sub2000 because it can take G18 or G17 mags or can be cut down to take G19 mags, it folds and it's cool and fun.

Gemtech multimount if you're allowed to have silencers in Misery. because it's cool.

That said, the most practical decision would probably be to get the wife set up with a handgun she is most comfortable with (don't try to pressure her into the Glock), carry gear and a CCW course assuming she is willing. The odds of survival for your entire family go up dramatically if you are both armed and able to work as a team in response to a lethal threat.

Or a .357 lever to go with that wheel gun.

My wife thinks her G19 is the only hand gun she needs, besides her LCP for CCW.

That saves me money.

G19's are great guns too - all the right stuff in a perfect size.

I have a Glock 19 and some guy with an XD at the range today told me Glocks were junk because you had to buy special bullets for them.

If it wasn't for Glock misinformation there would be nothing to discuss on the internet.

Your go to gun should always have a proven, ready to go, backup if it should break (yeah I know G19) or be taken in the aftermath of a shooting.

If it was your ninth I'd say not so much, but I'm a firm believer in 2=1, 1=0 when it comes to critical gear.

A while back a member here was involved in a good self defense shoot.  Even though he did nothing wrong, the police kept his gun for some reason, leaving him without a carry gun.

That is about the time I bought my 2nd G19

Police confiscate gun, I'm re-holstered before they get to their car

I hate glocks...that being said I also own two of them; a 19 and a 17...

BECAUSE I also realize that they are the most fungible investments one can have. Either one could be turned into cash on a moment's notice.

I also own a Nighthawk Custom @$2,800.00 that I do NOT carry just because I'll be damned if I'll watch it get "lost" stolen out of an property room while waiting for a righteous shoot to go through the court system.

I had my eye on an OD 19 just for something a little different. I found black 19s at a price online that made me go "damn, that's cheap" so at this point I'm not against another black one and spending the "that's different" money on a sight upgrade or a couple hundred rounds of ammo. Since the OD frames are discontinued what ones I can find aren't worth the price different to me at this point.

I had thought about an AK and had another guy ask if I wanted to trade for a WASR, but I might just keep my eyes peeled for one of those in the future. It would be another gun that probably wouldn't get shot as much as my carry guns, but it would be sweet. I've been eyeing Arsenal AKs and Jim Fuller's work as well.

I'd like to suggest that you move up to a top quality handgun, like an HK P30.

i try to have two of any of my carry guns.
that way, your backup ammo feeds either gun.

i'm partial to a G19 with a G26 as backup (ankle), with a G19 mag on my left hip.
