 LOS ANGELES (CBS) — Will the Children’s Television Workshop give way to same-sex puppet love? An online campaign is calling for the producers of TV’s "Sesame Street” to allow characters Bert and Ernie to get married in an attempt to "put an end to the bullying and suicides of LGBT youth”, according to the group’s Facebook page. The petition letter adds that "[w]e are not asking that Sesame Street do anything crude or disrespectful by allowing Bert & Ernie to marry”, suggesting that the show "even add a transgender character to the show…in a tasteful way”. |

While I think we can all conclude from watching Sesame Street that Bert and Ernie are gayer than Richard Simmons and Elton John riding a unicycle without a seat while carrying a box of AIDS, the idea of having them get married on the show is rather sickening.

Never really watched it but from what I saw with younger nephews during the early 70's I never picked them out as the ghey. Have they really changed alot recently? Do they lisp and sway now? It's the parents' job to explain this sort of thing to their kids - not the television networks'. That way...people who think it's a sin and their kids will go to hell for doing it can just get on with their bad selves, and parents who choose to raise their kids to be more accepting of others can do that too. Oh, and ditto on the video games comment. Simply "seeing gay" will not make your kids "turn gay". That's like saying, "I saw a fat guy so I ran right out and got myself a quarter pounder with cheese." Tsk tsk. If your kids follow others that easily, then their "catching the ghey" is the least of your worries. (It also pissed me off when Cookie Monster stopped devouring cookies and started telling kids that they're a "sometimes treat" so kids would be healthier.) |

I am so glad I live in small town USA, and I am more relieved that I do not have a child who is of an age that watches such programming. If someone wants to live that life great whatever works for them, but trying to push that onto other people or their children goes beyond the individual measure of liberty that person has.

What is wrong with the world today? I just ended up in a argument with my wife because I refuse to allow her to watch Current TV channel in our house. I do not allow any type of viewership or support for a channel owned by Al Gore and knowing the kind of propaganda his distributes. I teach my kids that it is wrong and not moral behavior, but I have also taught my kids that rather gay or straight, that is for God to judge and to not treat them any differently.
