How many times did Phil relive Groundhog Day?  It's got to be thousands...

Unknown for certain.  He mentioned while throwing cards that it took quite a while to get it down just so. Then the number of piano lessons he's taken.  And the other events he works through.

Lots.

Director Ivan Reitman discusses this on the DVD commentary track but I'll be damned if I can remember what he said...

Too bad Ivan Reitman wasn't the director!  You mean Harold Ramis, right?

He relived it for something like 100 years before he learned to be a decent human being

I've done some research and it appears that it was the writers thought that he repeated groundhog day for 10,000 years.  Not 10,000 days.  Years.

Holy Crap.

D'OH!

The funny thing is I had actually typed Harold Ramis and then second-thought myself into error.
