I'm going next week to qualify with my 1911 and start carrying it for duty use. I don't care for the stock grips (double diamond rosewood), and am looking for something that will be resistant to wear and is a slimmer.

Pistol is a stainless steel Colt with ambi safety.

Thanks!

Hogue or Pachmeyer. I've always preferred a rubber grip for my duty weapons.

Check the VZ grips website. John markets an excellent product.

I use Hogue wrap around grips.  They fit my hand the best.

I prefer a rough textured grip on my pistols for duty use.  The Mil-Tac Tactical and  Simonich gunner grips are my favorites.  They're not that slim though.

Tag for interest.

If I drop back down to part time here I can carry one of my 1911s.

I was told I could carry anything I wanted...in 9mm or .40.

I use Gunner's Grips from Simonich Knives.  They work well.

I like Ergo grips.

They're hard plastic with an 80grit sand paperish texture.

Full time guys are issued a P229 DAK in .40 with an alternative of a private purchase P220 DAK(what I use at the moment).

Part time guys can carry pretty much anything they want as long as it is a duty caliber weapons(no .380s for example) and it is a good quality weapon(no Jennings as another example).  It must be approved by one of the Armorers and the Chief.  Did I mention I am one of the Armorers?

I use the slim diamond wood grips from Wilson Combat. They are less than half as thick as a standard grip panel.

VZ Aliens. That's what my TRP wears and they are rock solid.

My Nighthawk GRP recon that serves as my duty handgun wears the NH golf ball grips.  They are very aggressive, but after shooting with them a little bit, I don't know that I would use anything else.  I'm not sure there is much of anything that could cause you to lose traction with those grips.

The VZ's are fantastic, but I haven't replaced my Ahrend's Tacticals yet. Hands-down the most comfortable grips I've ever shot.

I've got the simonich gunner grips, I'm a big fan of them.

Not my duty weapon though. We are required to carry glock 22's
