I`d say let the personality decide the name.   I`ve had dogs named Sonic, very vocal  Houdini, escape artist & Boo, scared the crap out of everyone with just a look.

Yep.  Wait for him to do something....memorable. Kind of like getting a call sign.

I wanted to name my GSD/Lab mix Dawg but the wife threw a fir for some odd reason so I named him Killer Dawg. he is 16 now and his "killing" days are over. He mostly sleeps and craps every where.

As far as I am concerned, dogs are our companions. Not slaves. They deserve names that should be equal to the "owner"

Cochise, maybe not for a Bulldog, but would of been perfect for a German Shepard.

Sam.

In all honesty....the dogs personality will help lead you to his...or, her....name.

My grandma bought a German Shepard many years ago and he had the coolest name I've ever heard for a dog; To Mack or could have been spelled Two Mack not sure about the spelling.
It sounds good for a guard dog though, rolls off the tongue nice too,

There was only one dog that really mattered and it was my first,  from here on out they have been named " replacement dog # ___ "  and I just shorten it down to the number.
