I was reading through the constitiution for my Av. Law class and came across this:
Section:8
Clause:16
To provide for organizing, arming, and discplining the militia, and for governing such part of them as may be employed in the serivce of the United states respectively, the Appointment of the Officers, and the Authority of training the Militia according to the discipline prescribed by Congress;

What do you think if "We the People" are the militia.

I agree but it opens a whole bag of worms, does the militia mean government controlled? Plus if the gov is paying for it they are going to be controlling it, thats not what we want.

They should, but the gun-grabbers have already stated that "the people" and "militia" in the 2nd Amendment means "The National Guard."

Article I, Section 8, Clause 16 does not require the government to provide weapons. This power is discretionary.

I work mid shift here on base. Even if the Gov't is in charge of it I wouldn't mind having an M-16A2 to add to my collection for a few years. The whole National Guard thing is another issue.
