Where we've moved to it seems impossible to find a Southern Baptist Church that we fit in at.
So currently we don't t have a church where we have become members. We are just visiting different ones. If we were to move somewhere else this wouldn't be an issue. It's not so much that I'm picky but my wife wants other teens around for our kids to interact with and a strong youth program. We decided to visit a Baptist Church about 15 mins away. I didn't do my homework to see what kind of Baptists they were. Well needless to say, they believe in gay marriage, women in leadership roles in the church, and who knows what else. When we figured this out, we all got up and walked out on Easter Sunday during the service. First time in my life I have had to do that. |

Why not worship on your own, or are your beliefs so fragile that they need to be constantly reinforced by you being preached to?

No doubt, IBTL

I was raised southern missionary baptist....
Now I show respect to others, I'm polite, not an alcoholic and show faith in my own ways . |

Women cant be in leadership roles? I dont really have a dog on the fight, but as long as someone is qualified i really dont care what gender they are.

What did the Baptist say to the Baptist at the liquor store?
Guess it's a good thing about being Catholic. Pretty much the same wherever you go. |
|
Wow, people brag about getting triggered in GD now? lol
Hopefully OP is successful in finding a new space space. |

OP's complaints seem a bit trivial for walking out of a sermon, but to each their own.
I'd advise not going during Easter, that's practically the only time of year my folks don't go to church. May not be indicative of what the church is actually about. |

I am sorry someone else’s pursuit of happiness hurts your feelings…

In on this shit show.
OP do you think Dinosaurs are alive in Africa? |

Women should be allowed full participation is church, last I checked it was only muslims who believed they shouldn't.
Then again I have a bible and have a nightly conversation with my family, I don't bother going to a building full of asshats who twist politics and gossip into church. |

Guess what our southern baptist minister said today?
It's not a sin to dance, it's a sin to dance badly. I bet you would have walked out right then too!!! Heathens! |

My wife and I went back to going to church a couple years ago when a new one opened across the road from my MIL's.
Great preacher, made this ex-Catholic very glad I went, nice a bunch of folks as one could want. They got a new preacher last year, and I can't stand that annoying twit; I haven't been back. My MIL goes regularly and my wife goes off and on, though. Southern Baptist preachers can be some queer and hateful folks, especially towards Catholics. I tend to feel towards people the way they feel about me, can't help it. It's a shame, really, the place is almost within sight of our new place. |

Those are some pretty awful qualities in a church.
Have you considered a local mosque? |

WOW
You walked out because there was a woman in a leadership role?? and did they have rainbow flags flying or just come out and say they welcomed gays?? Does your wife also walk two paces behind you with closed lips? |

You seem very religious from your threads and posts. And, you like to troll a bit too, in my opinion -- and I say this with a smile on my face.
In my view, I too have made a search of churches when trying to find someplace to worship on a regular basis. This was when I just got back into the faith. I attended several services where I did't like the message and never went back. I personally think it is bad form to get up and walk out. I believe common courtesy would be to sit through the sermon. Then, on the way home teach your family why that message was wrong. YMMV. |

ITT we learn who knows nothing about Old Fashioned Baptist doctrine, but feels the need to comment anyway.
As a general rule we're not interested in bringing gay pride and Women's Lib into the church. |

I've seen enough crap perpetrated onto people, in the name of religion, that I have no longer have any faith in organized religion of any flavor. That's not to say I don't believe, because I do. I have my own relationship with my God, and I don't need a mob to tell me what that relationship is supposed to be, and how to conduct myself to further that relationship. I can read and understand the instructions for myself. If you don't like your church, worship on your own under the terms you set between you and the Almighty.
YMMV |

Celebrate a supposed omniscient deity that allows the most innocent or his most fervent worshipers to be marched to their deaths in his name.
Really torn...yeah, blame the devil. ZFG that you got up and left. The bible is clear who is supposed to be in leadership roles..picking and choosing is not following the instruction manual. |
