It's been a long time coming. Today, I received a call informing me of me "GO" date. I enlisted in the Marines about 5 months ago, and I'll be attending Basic on the 29th of NOV. It was the best news I've had in a loooong time.

I'm currently 26 y.o.a., and it's my time to heed the call. I am leaving the Sheriff's Dept. after 2 years of service. I didn't enlist to start a new life, but only to further my already existing career. I just wanted to thank all of you for the input you've contributed to the site and the patriotic views and opinions that you all have expressed. It's good to know that people like us can settle out differences and all have a common goal...TRUE AMERICAN IDEALISM\REALISM. Unlike those democratic, leftist, pinko, commie, red, liberals!! VOTE BUSH!

I'm happy for you. I have a very good friend who is in the Marines and just returned from Iraq. I can't tell you how much I respect this man and what our military is doing.

If you want to get fired up about being a Marine, as if you are not already, do a google search for "The Unapoligetic Warrior"

Thanks you for your willingness to serve. This country owes so much to so few.

Why did it take 5 months? Did you ask for some time or it just took that long?

Serving is what you make of it. Develop a bad attitude and your time will pass slowly.
I had a ball my 10 years in the 82nd Abn.

Thanks, guys. It took five months partly because the Marines are filling up fast. The other part is the 0321 MOS. Lots of people going into the recon field.

Good luck and have fun, I wish I could leave the SO to re enlist myself. Unfortunately I'm overpaid and overbilled right now, not to mention overweight.... I'm working on rectifying the latter. Hopefully within the next year I can join up with a guard unit and get myself deployed somewhere interesting. Thanks for having the balls stand up for the USA! It's gonna be a hard road, 26yoa makes you an old man compared to some of the high school kids that'll be there. I hope you're in good shape. I'm 35 and couldnt imagine going through basic training again, not even AF basic... let alone the Marines.... Good luck and god bless you, take care and be safe.

Wow it took that long just to get the GO date? Do you think it would take that long for 0311 as well? I may have to go talk with my recruiter now. Good luck man!
