About a month ago there was the thread about the heavy mailbox reinforced with concrete. I had dreamed up the exact same box about five years ago. Well for almost seven years I have been waiting for someone to tee off on my mailbox, it had yet to happen. Eveyone up and down the road has replaces theirs. Well about and hour ago a young lady took out the box; along with the road sign, telephone junction box, newspaper box, and clipped the power pole. She didn't get hurt but, destroyed one side of the car. The road was wet from the melted snow; my guess the marbles the county rolled out for traction had a lot to do with it, besides gender of driver. If I had that nuke proof mailbox it would have been a lot worse.

Yea I guess breakaway stuff does have its advantages. I noticed here in Virginia they drill a few holes in the wood signposts just above the ground so when hit by a car they snap off easier...
